With as little hearing i have left, i wish i could just lose it all, it's so frustrating to only be able to hear high pitched sounds. I'm tired of not being able to hold a conversation even though i can speak!
I just wish it would go away so i can eneter the deaf world full force. Anyone else feel like this?

I feel smilar from time to time but you don't have to be 'stone' deaf in order to enter Deaf culture. Even some hearing people enjoy it. If you want to hear you can get a cochlear implant. People must accept you for who you are :) We cannot change how we hear or not :ugh3:

I understand what you're saying, but i know i'll be legally deaf soon, i just want it to happen now.

I have an answer! Easy! Take plenty of pain killer pills then wait 30 minutes, take two pens and poke it in both of your ears at same time, then you'd be dead deaf!

What about ear plugs? will that help?... :dunno:

U don't have to be fully deaf to be involved in the deaf world. There r many people who have mild hearing losses or CIs who r actively involved in Deaf Culture.

I'm more involved in the deaf culture than ever before, my daughter is taking an elective asl class in high school. It's the physical aspect that I'm refering to.

Ohhh ok..got it!

I can't say I know how u feel cuz I have been profoundly deaf since birth. Wouldn't have a clue to what it is like to lose hearing over time. Hope everything works out well soon! :)

Take a bigger headphone then plug to stereo and turn on highest volume then your hearing will be all gone due bad damage to hair cell, including lose all benefit from HA.

I can relate to this feeling. I have Menieres disease, which is an episodic disorder, meaning it comes and goes. It is taking my hearing slow but sure. When I have an episode, it makes my head fill with strange sounds and ringing. I become quite depressed, and have had the urge to jam a pencil in my ears and end the sounds. It is theorized that Van Gogh, the artist, cut his ear off because he was a Menieres sufferer. Hang in there man. You never know what modern science can come up with.

I used to tell that joke to friends a long time ago--just somewhat different version of it. Got different reactions to that joke.
