I Now Know the Cause of my Dizziness!

:ty: for keeping us posted... so you still got 6 weeks to wait... too bad...

<hug> Jamie

Good news, Jamie. I was able to move up my appointment with Lexi to April 15th. My CI surgeon wants me to see her ASAP so that I don't have to suffer with my dizziness and nausea any longer than necessary. I also have Medicare, so even if my Medicaid isn't approved by then, I'm willing pay 20% of the cost because I need to do something about this now. I'm getting tired of this and want to experience some relief.

I have BPPV for long time. It was worse in the beginning. Now I get it just alittle bit when I go to bed. I think mine was caused by a fever I had. I am glad I don't get dizzy during the daytime anymore, especially when I am driving.

Did you see a balance therapist to treat your BPPV? My CI surgeon wants me to see one so that I can learn exercises to reduce or eliminate my symptoms.

:ty: Charlotte. :)

I have quite a bit of money in my savings account, so paying for an initial appointment shouldn't be a problem.

I asked Lexi's receptionist how many treatments I can expect to receive. She said it varies from person to person, but even if I can learn a few exercises to help ease my symptoms, I will be better off than I am now.

I'm a bit late to this thread but I wish you good luck on April the 15.

Update: My appointment with Lexi tomorrow needs to be changed. I have a conflict in my schedule, so I will need to see her next week if it can be arranged.

Hear again,
I had BPPV last year and had to go to a Physical therapist. It took a little while but eventually the vertigo went away. Good luck.

They tried the eply procedure on me first which is supposed to be like 85 to 90% effective. Natually that didn't do the trick. From there they tried Brandt Dardoff procedure, then sent me to a vestibular Physical therapist. After a few months they got it under control. normally after you start going to a vestib P/T it takes a couple of visits and you should be good to go. Each person is different and reacts to the therapy differently so try not to get frustrated if you are not getting better as fast as you would like. She gave me some habituation exercises to do at home which helped. Feel free to ask any questions.* Adam

I've had the nausea and dizziness for years. It gets pretty bad at times!

4 surgeries, and still no relief from drainage (both ears) and pain! I do need to see an ENT again, and have them drain my ears of the built-up fluid. And whenever I do, I have to lay there for an hour or 2 because of the dizziness.

Low-grade fevers accompany all this, along with fatigue. Ear drops are not helping much! I almost fell at the store the other day and at times cannot walk straight.

The doctors at Mayo have told me there will be no more surgeries on my ears. In other words, nothing can be done! So getting the fluid drained every few months seems to be the best option in my case.
