I am not getting a CI

I'm surprised some are hijacking Flip's thread to spout nonsense about technology with which they are unfamiliar.

We certainly intend to upgrade Li-Li's technology as she grows older, that's a given according to our plans. I've mentioned that several times on the forum. That the device will fail or that someone will have to have revision surgery or be re-implanted is not a given. There are many, many adults who have been implanted who will not require additional surgery.

I'm not sure why Oceanbreeze is turning this thread into a discussion about CIs. Seems pretty disrespectful to the point of Flip's post, which I respect: that we don't really need to be focusing our discussion of wellbeing around (and conversely, our issues with) CIs.

I agree. I hate when people hijack a thread to spread misinformation about implants and then get mad when we respond to the untruth.

Why are you pointing your finger at OB? .Deafgal brought up about reimplantation and she responded to that. Deafgal HAS a CI and she knows something about it and has personally experienced having one unlike you and me.

:laugh2:

Thank you, Shel. It wasn't me. It was someone else further up in the thread who suggested that Flip consider the CI. I merely suggested reasons why that wasn't pertinent. Beyond that, people kept responding. People need to take a good hard look before they point fingers. Those that do, have one finger pointing at me and four pointing back at themselves.

Some people cant accept CI failures so they get thier kids reimplanted. nothing more and nothing less.

It would be great if CI opponents wouldn't take every thread as an opportunity to bash CIs relentlessly. Do you really need to make such a statement as this? Or do you just really miss talking about CIs?

I'll bite: who are these some people you are accusing of not accepting CI failures and what makes you think that reimplanting means they can't accept it? Seems that by reimplanting, they are pretty deeply aware that a failure has occurred.

she didnt...Deafgal did and Deafgal is a CI user. So tell Deafgal to stop bringing up her experiences with her CI.

We're all guilty at this point. So, lets just drop it and move on.

I admit that I will not let people spread information about implants (and on other forum and in real life, about ASL) that is untrue. If it is untrue, I will respond.

Personal experiences and I never said "all'...so you cant get mad at me about it.

What does that even mean? You through out a bomb to bash parents who choose CI's and then you refuse to eplain it. To take every chance to throw out "failures" and anti-oral stuff....so here's your chance, back it up.

Damage from to many exposures to what??

This is the kind of stuff that gets me angry and starts derailing threads. Why are you talking about made up causes for implant failures??

I'm not making up stuffs that I read.

You left 11 posts on this thread alone slamming CIs -- isn't that a bitover the top? And you know very, very little about CIs. Deafgal, on the other hand can post negatively all she likes and although I may think she has a minority perspective, at least she knows whereof she speaks. She has experience to back up her personal accounts.

I'll respond every time I notice you post irresponsibly about CIs, so you have a great deal of control over how many posts we rack up on the matter.

It says in that information that you can't get cancer treatment with a CI? Nope.

It depends on the treatment and the cancer... You don't know that. I watched too many people died from cancer :( It unique everytime.

I'm willing to have mine remove if it ever get to that point.

Can you clarify that, please?

I said some people cant accept the "soft" failures so they have reimplantation even if it may not be a "soft" failure in the first place.

Again, why would I do that? Oceanbreeze is the one who posted authoritatively 11 times on the matter and doesn't know much about the subject at all. I may disagree with Deafgal, but I value her perhaps-not-so-positive experience (I don't think you currently use your CI, do you deafgal?), just as I do Sheila's positive experience.

But OB is agreeing with Deafgal and it seems like people have a problem with it. Why is that?

Your choice, but you can always take your CI off for complete silence whenever you want.

Look. *takes off CI* Ta-da... llalalalalaalalalalalaalala *gasp!* Try one more time because your decision is a drastic lifestyle change.

This is how this trainwreck started. As you can see it, it wasn't ME who started this discussion.

Just wanted to point this out since some were concerned about who started this mess.

what make you think my experience is not so positive. It is just realistic.

I am wearing bornworn processor... I had to pay $150 out of pocket (no insurance, they won't pay) for the coil and everything. But that's all I have for now
