Hurricane matthew

Bad idea! A lot people had damages from a winter we had a few years back . Roofs caved in from the weight of the snow , my ceiling had water stains and I am on the first floor.
sounds like you have very old house, insurance <3 you.

there were newer houses that had damages too, we got over 100 inches of snow that winter.

Not much as old houses, also new houses built with updated codes after devastating hurricane (especially after Andrew) and blizzard.

Glad to hear the power is back on. Hubby's relatives all are ok in FL, GA and Charleston. Their houses and mansion are not damaged.

What about food in refrigerator? mostly spoiled? I know that freezer is good between 24-48 hours.
We left the food in the fridge/freezer, unopened, for several hours, then transferred the food to coolers with ice. When we put the food back in the fridge/freezer, the frozen items seemed soft to me, so we threw them out. About a $40 loss. The refrigerated items seemed OK.

Residents in Charleston, James Island and on Folly Beach likely heard a small-scale explosion Sunday evening when bomb squad officials detonated a Civil War ordnance that surfaced on Folly Beach during Hurricane Matthew.

The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office bomb squad began evaluating the ordnance after it was found on the beach near the end of East Ashley Avenue.

Eric Watson, a spokesman with the sheriff’s office, said officials began working the situation around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday but had to wait until after 7 p.m. to detonate due to the tide.

“We call it ‘rendering safe’ and we did that right there on the beach front,” Watson said. “They’re putting the dirt from the detonation back in the hole and they’re transporting the device to (Joint Base Charleston).”

The naval base was expected to receive and destroy the ordnance by the end of the night.

TCS has been busy. After cleaning up our yard, he also cleaned up the yards of four neighbors, then went to our church's property and helped clean up there (flooded gym and tree damage). At the end of this week he'll also be cleaning up at the plantation where he does side work. They have many large trees down and can't use their main entrance. They also have damage to their horse fencing. TCS is trying to find a helper for the job of cutting up and removing tree debris there and fixing the fences. At our house he still needs to repair some of the screening on our screened-in room porch; he's waiting for someone to help him (takes two people).

The fitness center that I use for Rock Steady Boxing still has no power so it's still closed. :( I don't know yet if it will be open for tomorrow's workout. It was closed last Thursday for storm preparation, so I've already missed a couple workouts. :(

Oh I am sorry to hear the fitness center is still closed is there any way you can do some workout at home? It sounds like TCS been very busy . We only some very much needed rain from the tail end of the storm but it wasn't enough to end our water ban.

A co-worker who lives in FL didn't have electric for 4 days and had a large oak tree fall on his '65 Ford. :(
