A skunk is under my home, stinking up the whole house.
It is under there to stay warm been pretty chilly in Florida for the past few weeks.

How can I get rid of it?

I would get a cat trap, but as soon as I approach it surely the skunk will lift his tail and spray me.

The skunk been under my house for a few days now! Help!

lol damn! well call animal control or rodent removal guy like Joe the Plumber. or... if you want to be that evil - you should put a large fan to blow in cold air and that will make skunk find somewhere else warmer! make sure there's exit route for him.

I would just shoot it. If you dont have guns, just throw rocks at it and it shall run away from your place.

this is what i was going to suggest. it's probably best to let animal control remove the skunk from your property.

Skunk spray can linger for weeks.
I was thinking of contacting the critter catcher.

Blowing the fan might air out the infamous odar.

Eeek!! It's time to call in the pros. But, from what I've told by my friend who had a skunk under her back yard deck, she left a flash light under her deck when the skunk is out in the dark before dawn the skunk comes back, see the light and will find another home to stay. That's another way you could get rid of the skunk. ;)

The best do it yourself method is to make life miserable for the skunk.

Put out flood lights temporarily. Skunks hate lights and will stop hiding in that dark spot if you light it up a little. If you can afford to, get a motion detector for the light so it comes on only when he is around. After awhile, he will find a better place to hide.

Find out how he is getting under the house. If you have a few small openings like vents, cover them up so he cant get back in. Be careful not to trap him under there....Light everything up so he leaves, then block it up so he cant come back.

If you have outdoor pets or keep food/trash outside, eliminate this the best you can. Not only is he coming around for shelter, but there is probably a food source nearby that he's enjoying...such as your trash or pet food.

I've also heard that pepper spray works *sometimes* but this would have to be sprayed every few days and you risk him spraying when you try to apply it.

If none of that works, then it would be time to call in a professional. This will probably cost you money. Additionally, your local government should have some sort of animal control but many times they will not come out for a wild animal under a house.

I just left the animal refugee and I have to contact the manager tommorow to see if they will help me.

Plus we visited the zoo and noticed they have no skunks. :). So I asked them if they wanted one. LOL.

:naughty: get a sewer vacuum truck and suck him out under of the house.

Pepper spray?

I would be too scared to use that under the house, for it might get inside our home. That would be worse than the skunk smell.

Continuously play a tape of Nancy Sinatra singing "These Boots are Made for Walking" and viola, problem soon solved. :D
