How many of you have had bad experiences with OTC medicine?

My first spinal surgery was so awful. It normally has a 24 hour hospital stay. I ended up staying almost a week and I was unconscious the entire time from pain. I remember the first day and the last day, the one I left on, and one instance of my family doctor shaking me to get me to wake up so he could ask how I was doing. Now that is serious pain. I lost 6 days of my life in the hospital, and then recovery after, I don't remember the first two weeks, period, that's how much pain i was in. After two weeks I remember my husband dragging me into the shower to wash me because I must have been damn nasty by then, but I couldn't wash myself.w

I'm sorry, but I have to laugh at Bengay causing horrible terrible pain when no, it really doesn't. It's not going to knock you unconscious and hospitalized for a week like I went through.

Been there, was in hospital for spinal surgery, stuck on bed for 10 days with full body cast. No fun, but these hospital pain killer, feel like in heaven! LOL Sorry to hear that you knocked out cold for a while and I bet it is no fun! My first surgery was back in real early 80's where hospital stay up to 2 weeks after surgery was fairly common. Not anymore. That surgery I had, have nothing to do with my neck. Its completely different issue.

No, it won't damage the reproduce system still can have babies. Its not hot enough to kill completely. Balls have incredible power to fix themselves. Unless one is smashed or removed.

Uh, I didn't say kill somebody. I was referring to the reproductive system. I put that stuff on my nuts, bye-bye babies.

don't think bengay would cause sterility either..that would be serious mojo for it to even get to the little darling swimmers.

You can be doctor, simply, don't move to Chicago! :-D

I'm leaving it at that... Maaaaan I'd hate to be your doctor. I'd go back to college and relearn a new trade skill! Perhaps, I'd go learn to be a chef! Yes... I would learn to cook like Jiro... I like his food picture postings... I would go do that!

Why not? She can be Mark's new doctor.

Mark: My knee hurts.
Mew: Let me see your knee.
Mark: Sure.
Mew: *looking at Mark's knee*
Mark: What is wrong with my knee?
Mew: There is no wrong with knee so you may run too much, ride a bike too much or eat a lot of sweet treats.
Mark: Oh really? Are you serious?
Mew: You should stop eat a lot of sweet treats.
Mark: I don't eat any sweet treats.
Mew: Your blood sugar is abnormal.
Mark: Oh really, I have no idea.
Mew: It is not cool to be dishonest with doctor so you should admit to hospital for several days.
Mark: Oh no......

I had a reaction to Aleve a few years ago that landed me in the ER getting steroid shots.

LOL at this thread argument with bengay

seriously some of us react bad to everyday stuff people take for granted. I remember I put on a certain aloe lotion once IDK what I had on previously but it felt like it was on fire, tightened up and blistered- hurt to move the skin on leg had no previous reactions to aloe before. I was swimming all day long...I tried same aloe again later on during the week out of curiousity on a small area if it was what I was allergic to and didn't have the same reaction. Maybe Mark had something on his back that made bengay worse or hes simply allergic to the stuff in it.

I have no problem with bengay or biofreeze, I love those stuff. My back doctor asked me if I had problem with bengay before or biofreeze so its more common than what people think some people actually have problem with them if my doctor asked me before he applied them on my back

Mark, how did you apply the Bengay to tour back?

It was applied to an area that recently had a major injury to the area. That may have been what caused it.

You were limber enough to apply it without further hurting your back?

Advil Cold and Sinus. Well ever since the crack down on cold meds because of meth heads they may have changed the formula. I don't know. But that was waaaaay too much meds for me. My heart rate was up, I felt like I was on speed, my pupils were even dialated.
