How many of you have had bad experiences with OTC medicine?

your ribcage in a great deal of pain? was that the one from sleeping on your bed?

Sleeping the wrong way, I think. I gotta watch my left side, which I badly injured when I slipped and hit the ribs on a wooden couch arm. Left a decent bruise, and damage to the muscles.

oh I see.... so that was your "great deal of pain".....

hmmm... last year, my leg was nearly sliced off when I was going toward a curve but fortunately, I quickly turned my motorcycle and I sideswiped against the guardrail on my motorcycle. the knee area on my jeans was ripped and my knee was bleeding. my entire leg was swollen to the point where it was very difficult to remove my boot. few days later, I had massive bruising on my foot and leg. but I didn't go to ER cuz I can suck it up and nothing was broken.... just a small dent on my shin bone. I hobbled for a couple weeks but I'm not sure if that's considered as a "great deal of pain' for me...... :)

How about tearing knee ligaments? Let's do an example. A kick in the groin would hurt, sure, and I've been there. Now, a blown out knee is an entirely different animal, and the pain is 10 times worse than a kick to the nuts. It hurts A LOT.

ouch.

wheelchair.

Wasn't an option then-- my old school wasn't ADA accessible, and they don't have to be, because they have the school in a house. Made for a rough 9 months there from July 2004 to June 2005, but the injury wasn't discovered until after a month later, when I'd had enough of being ignored and refused medical attention, because they thought I was doing it for the attention. Boy, did they ever regret that.

lawsuit.

I did better than that-- I reported the wrongdoing to the DCFS, and they were NOT happy. They leveled a large fine against the program for neglect and covering it up.

pat on your back.

pat on your back.

Yup. Program did not like what I did. In fact, they tried to find the letter I was writing to them, and they searched my room 3 times for it, and they never found it-- it was under their noses the entire time (I stuffed it my pillowcase, knowing they wouldn't think to look there), and they failed to see it. That's called outsmarting and outwitting people who may try to use said info against me. 19 years old against an entire program, and who got the better end of that one?

rejoice.

I agree with chicagoblue some peoples skin cannot handle certain chemicals it can be pure agony and painful when skin is reacting it has happened to me before with anti itch cream. Felt like 3rd degree burn

I have a skin disorder and have to be careful what can be applied on me.

I use to tiger balm until I found out it's very toxic to small children . It worked great and you only needed to use a tiny bit of it.

http://arthritis.about.com/od/topicalcounterirritants/a/BENGAY.htm

Bengay is made by Johnson & Johnson , so I can see how it would be bad for some people. Everyone had difference kind of skin and there nothing they can do about it .
I had a client that had pasty white skin and when I was giving him a sponge bath his wife told me only to pat his skin and not rub it , that would made his skin get red .
The guy could go out in the sun , he would had burned up.

I have fairly low tolerance with pain, and I am fine with Bengay. Why not try rubbing Bengay on your balls? Some guys have done that and they went nuts. LOL

Think again. I have high tolerance for pain, and like I said-- you didn't see what happened. Plain and simple, the stuff and I do not get along. In fact, my ribcage/back area was in a great deal of pain, and I did not go to the ER-- instead, I figured out what was causing the intense pain, and since then, the pain had reduced to almost nothing now-- just residual soreness, that's all.

Don't like how you feel in back with Bengay? Are you willing to trade with my neck? I would love use Bengay than bunch of pain killers.

If you have neck issue like mine, you will cry like baby. It was far, far most painful I ever went though. 1 to 10? Well, almost two years ago, it is pretty much like 150 and yes, I went nuts. I now rather deal with lower back pain than my neck! Yes, I have lower spine pain from time to time.

This is somebody's else X ray, not mine but mine is very similar as this one… I rather not show mine because of privacy issue.

Are you trying to get me to sign a death warrant for my little swimmers? No thanks.

Cannot take any OTC or prescription meds. I do take acetaminophen, but cannot take more than 2-3 doses a week and have to drink tons of water when I do.

Last time I had aspirin, I was in a 3 day coma.
