How many of you are using energy saving lightbulbs

Next? It already has.

Some places have water restrictions now.

The government years ago mandated how much water can flow thru the shower and can be used in a toilet.

I forgot about water bans ,my bad! My condo hadeveryone get low flow toilet. .I have a shower like that too.

When we had our own place in Missouri, I had all the new bulb in place. Now that we are here with MIL, she refuses to buy the new bulbs. She saw the news report and was very dismayed. She doesn't really know anything about them and saw that my mother had one in her little light she uses to knit with. Liked the clean look to the light and is planning on getting a bunch of the lights. She has also asked us to use less lights and watch TV in the dark more often. I refuse to do that since it's not good for your eyes.

Instantly yes. The new firetruck lights (and cop cars) are all LED now. You can seee them for miles.
That might work for my security lights. However, the carriage lamps on the front porch and on either side of the garage door are also motion detectors. I don't want to blind my guests or myself.

Do want made a bet with me on this? We'll not be able to buy the old light bulbs anymore by 2014 . I am going to have a hard time using the energy saving bulb over my kitchen sink because the globe will not fit over the bulb!
I already tried it! I have energy saving bulb in the rest of my house. My condo had some people come our homes and put in new light fixtures that can only use energy saving bulbs. You did not have it done, I did as my condo fee covered it.

I didn't have any problems with the bulbs fitting in the fixtures, but I do have outdoor lights with sensors with the old school bulbs

That thing about watching the TV in the dark... that's just a myth. The lamp salesmen came up with that one as a selling point during the 50s.

The globe is really old and was made to work with the old light bulbs. I could but a new light in but I would not be able to but the globe back up. Unless I can find a smaller energy saving bulb.

Yeah when you go the movies the theater is really dark!

Dangers About Energy Saving Light Bulbs | eHow.com

I heard on the news by the years 2014 everyone will have to use energy saving light bulbs. And I also read that the bulbs have mercury in them! So we'll save money but be exposing our family to mercury if we drop an energy efficient light bulb on the floor!

We knew about that since 80's. Same fluorescent light tube have one.

In fact, the LED lamp is energy efficient than cfl lamp.

I am using one in one of my lamps.

source please?

It was in a magazine I had read... and that was around 15 years ago. I think I also saw it in one of the Uncle John's Bathroom Reader books. Regardless, it's not a big deal who came up with it. The point is, it's not true.

Although if you ask your eye doctor, you will be told that it's a myth. There are no statistics to support such a claim. All it does is strain your eyes from not blinking as often. Your eyes dry out from not blinking which is why it feels irritated and strained.

$15? Yikes....you can find some for $3-4 each even a few for $1 each (these will not even last long time, tho)

Well, if it doesn't last more than a couple months... it's probably the wiring in the house.

Oh okay. It's make sense to me. Thanks

When color TV came out I had a neighbor that would not all his kids to set too close to the TV! My neighbor was a engineer and worked with the government on testing submarines to see if they where safe use underwater!
