We call them dust bunnies; they usually hide under furniture. :giggle:

Well I can't walk very far anymore and I can't run at all either thanks to the Army. I can't focus on a book when I'm anxious. It's not curbing a "little anxiety" its quite a lot of anxiety and it's the only thing I've found that helps other than alcohol or pot.

You don't understand, you can't fathom the extremity of how impossible my anxiety is to deal with. The only other thing I know of to reduce anxiety is to destroy or vandalise things, which I haven't done in quite a long time.
You need professional help but no one can force you to accept it.

Let's see, I can walk, but not without massive pain. I can no longer run. Soon I will be in a wheelchair. I am total deaf and no hearing aids, or CI will help. I have depression issues, anxiety issues and all sorts of issues.

My motto these days is "Where there's a will, there's a way". I quit drinking and smoking years ago (21 & 22 years). My way to deal with the pain, is to just think of something positive. Doesn't matter how trivial or stupid that positive it. Hey, I woke up and was able to stand without needing my cane. That's a positive. I was able to take the dog for her potty walk without needing the rollator. That's a positive.

I do hope things get better for you. I did see a counselor for help when I really needed it. I also cannot take any medication at all. I am so very thankful for my musical tinnitus at times like that as with it, I can do some meditation and relaxation with the deep breathing.

Feeling discouraged this morning.

Sunday afternoon I got an automated phone call from VA confirming a medical appointment for me Tuesday. The problem is, I didn't know anything about an appointment. So, we called VA on Monday morning and spoke to my appointment nurse. She said it was for a follow-up blood test. I asked two questions: 1. is it for cholesterol, and 2. do I need to fast? Her answer was "no" to each question.

So, yesterday afternoon I went to the blood lab. The technician asked if I fasted. I told her no. She said, "Your blood test is for cholesterol, and you're supposed to fast; you'll have to come back tomorrow." Grrrr!!!

So, I went back this morning (after fasting overnight). This time I got a noobie technician. Ouch! She squeezed and poked and pulled and poked on my right arm for blood and finally gave up. She asked the senior tech to try the back of my hand. Instead, she tried my left arm. She finally got it done, after more pain.

Ugh!

Okay, first of all, the appointment nurse lied to you. Secondly, newbie techs drawing blood is no fun-- they poke EVERYWHERE. I prefer the more experienced ones, thank you.

There is one tech at the lab that I prefer; he always does it in one try, painlessly. Sadly, we don't get to choose who we get. :(

The funny thing is, he's a real a big guy, like a football player, yet he has a gentle touch. The tech who hurt me today is a petite woman.

I hear you. It takes several tries to find my veins, as they don't like being poked.

:wave:Frisky, I did :giggle:

Reba ...owww! yuck...
My hub has this needle phobia and have extreme emotional and physical problems with draws. Hard veins to get. He always asks for a butterfly <assuming I heard that right> and the most experienced tech - we are able to do that. I'm sorry you weren't able to.

Ouch! In civilian clinics, you can ask for another nurse. Are you sure the VA does not allow for another nurse request? I know the initial nurse will brush you off, better to get it right to begin with! :)

I l know Illinois Masonic Medical Center does not. Whoever I get, I'm stuck with that person.

School stressing you out a little bit? And your therapist might have been trying to help you feel more like yourself, as you should be.
