Since I like both Honda & Toyota,
I am trying to do some research to
figure out which one Honda or Toyota
last very long time.
Which one do you think last longest ?

I haven't own one of them. My aunt used to have Toyota and had it for 10 to 12 years (can't remember). My best friend had her Toyota for 12 years. Now my best friend is getting used Honda for temporary. It is 12 years old but runs great I guess. Till she save up more money, get a better car for herself or for her hubby.

Soo I am sure other ADers will give you a better feedbacks than I do! :)

You better ask Sequoias about this because he have more experience with Honda and Toyota.. He own Honda cars since he started drive.

Pardon me for saying, "his father own Toyota Truck" Which it's Nissan Truck, it's not Toyota...

But one of my friends have Toyota Truck... It's running good, I don't know if it will be last longest...

Honda... Toyota are pretty decent.

This is Sequoias typing:

Honda and Toyotas are pretty much the same when it comes to reliabity, even though....Toyota trucks are known for their excellent reliabity. Many of those trucks have gone pretty far to around more than 300k or more. My friend's 1992 Toyota truck had about 230,000 miles and still runs good, it had a V-6 engine mated to a manual transmission. She sold it last year.

Honda have the best reliabity in manual transmission cars, their transmissions rarely have problems. The most problems in Hondas are the brakes and exhaust system and other things. Toyotas have the most problems with electrical and other stuff I don't remember. Consumer reports have the data of the reliabity records, you might want to check them out. ;)

Does he use automatic or manual for his Honda car?

Well, one biggest advantage of these Hondas/Toyotas is that they hold their value at much longer than Americans and other makes. I mean they don't depreciate as fast as lousy American cars!

My next vehicle is LIKELY going to be Honda! Im fed up with American, and UAW demanding more money rather demanding better quality... So FOOK them!

Hey TrippLA,

Before we got 2000 Honda Civic EX, all of the cars that Sequoias' was Manual. But right now, we have 2000 Honda Civic EX and it's Automatic because Sequoias need to take the break from Manual, he'd been using the cars that is Manual for 10 years since and also it's because of me, I don't drive Manual cars that VERY good, need to learn more so we decided to get automatic car instead, but in few years Sequoias will buy a car with manual when we have enough of money and we will keep 2000 Honda Civic EX for awhile...

How Sweet of Sequoias thinking of you with automatic car for you... :)

Wonder if save more gas with manual shift OR automatic ?

Manual is more saving the gas better than automatic, but you can have automatic car and it will still save gas good enough but less, you know?

If you know how to drive with manual then it will be PERFECT!

Thats true for before 1998, but after that it does not make any difference. It is only personal preferance. Todays automatics runs far better than before and was able to save as much gas as does manual. The only real advantage for manual tranny is that it would drive better in snowy condition. SO if you don't drive much in snow, it won't make any difference.

I feel so sad about American cars :-(
I want very much to support America and USA made cars
I like America cars such as Chevrolet Malibu Monte Carlo and
Ford Crown Victoria Mercury Sable/Marquis
These cars are Great for long distance traveling !!

BUT, unfortunately American cars do NOT last
very long mostly cannot survive after 150K mileages...

Thats why I feel so sad that I have to focus
on these foreign cars such as Honda and Toyota....
I heard many of Honda and Toyota can go more
than 300,000 mileages or even 400,000 ! Depend
on the owner who take a good care of the car
with oil changes etc...

I do understand how you feel, same thing with my feelings. I realllllllllllly want a Dodge 1,500 or 2,500 Ram with 4x4 and four doors truck because I'm in love with that kind of truck!

You are correct, depends on what kind cars with automatic because some of cars with automatic do "eat" gas more than we expect, you know?

Hey Sweetheart...

It's does same to me, I'm lousy driving with manual car but our driver education are just use automatic, automatic is optional but manual are installed in car at first place then some people decide to want have automatic cars then it would cost $1K or more but I just prefer to own car with automatic.

I'm gonna buy car in summer but my family will help to pay it, car insurance for full coverage is full of painful.

Wait! More and more Hondas are made in America! They got nothing to do with UAW!
Even my new motorcycle is Honda, they are 100% made in America (Ohio).
I no longer thinks we need unions anymore. They really hurts us more than good. They thinks all corporations got money trees. They seems not to learn mistakes before. I grew up in city where unions was very strong. They now mostly gone.

Sometimes it is better to learn how to drive sticks. What if you were in emergency and you found only available car to get somewhere and that "only" car happens to have stick... whadda you gonna do? Drive with stick isn't hard as you think.

Yeah, but when Sequoias buy manual car then I will try to learn more about it to driving for in case better than nothing. Yeppers, that's correct about our driver education are just use automatic because it's more easier to pass than manual. I do understand you prefer to own car with automatic. Oh that's awesome that you will get one, what kind of car do you want? Curious... That's nice of your family will admit to helping you with paying... Yeppers I agreed with you that car insurance for full coverage is full of painful.. But you can use your parents' name under of your car to saving some of your money for Insurance or it's up to you to using your name under of your car. Just suggest ;)

OIC... When these unions are now gone, then does this mean
that America made cars will improve ? I assume that most
unions were in Michigan (I think).
