High gas prices likely to effect holiday spending this year

Guess you aren't willing to go back and re-read in order to educate yourself. NP.

I tried that once.....remember. You even claimed a link was cited..

Texas signed away their right to secede in the war of 1812.

ME
That is kinda impossible.

But as for a right to secede......Well anyone can. But they may have to fight for it.

Yep. The very Treaty they signed that gave away their right to secede.

MECan you provide a link for that?

Jillio
This thread, several pages back. You don't need a link. You are already here.

ME
Don't see the link.

Obviously that link is incorrect wherever it is.

Texas was an independent nation from 1836-1846. Texas became part of the U.S. in 1846.

Souggy

My bad... 1845. PBS - THE WEST - The Annexation of Texas Joint Resolution of Congress March 1, 1845

Then you came back with this...

Jillio
Need to go back and read again. The treaty was signed that negated their right to secede during the War of 1812. That is what I have said 4 or 5 times. And provided the link to support it.

You claimed Texas signed that Treaty several times in that thread and claimed there was a link if we just scroll back. You even mocked other members. Once you were proven wrong you claimed you didn't say it even though it is right there in the thread.

THAT is why we ask you to support your statements and claims. Whether you do or not is your choice of course..... but "scroll back" and "educate yourself" is hardly a defense

Here is a link to that thread for the entire conversation

And then there is....

Someone is in an argumentative mood today. They can go back and dig up all sorts of unrelated quotes that are out of context, but won't spend the same amount of time looking for something relevant.:laugh2: Looks like trolling to me!:P

Not at all. Simply showing the reason me and other posters ask you to support your statements and claims.

Heck in this case if someone said...

gas tax as the only acceptable way to support the infrastructure of a state

I would be debating them....not you. But I don't believe anyone said that.

Argue with yourself. You have shown that you have both the time and the capability to do a search in the above diatribe. You simply refuse, and continue to point fingers. Motivation obvious. Not inclined to play, thanks.

War of 1812? Texas? I thought the War of 1812 is about British on American soil, burned White House, occupying Detriot? Texas belonged to Nueva España (New Spain) at that time. Nuevas Filipinas?

We went from $2.84 to $3.04 over night on Monday. Now we went from $3.04 to $3.08 today.

And continue to see gas tax as the only acceptable way to support the infrastructure of a state.:giggle:

Not really, gas price has went up because price of crude oil has went up so it has nothing with gas tax to being increase or not.

I agree with diehardbiker above.

Did you miss that emoticon at the end of the text you quoted? Perhaps she wasn't being serious?

And what goes up when the price goes up?

And what goes up when the price goes up?
I don't know about other states but South Carolina's gas tax is a flat rate per gallon, so it doesn't go up with the price of gas.

The SC gas tax is 16.75 cents per gallon. It hasn't been increased since 1987, and is the fourth lowest in the country.

Every gas tax I have seen has been a flat tax too. :hmm:

Same here.

It was crude oil price has went up that why about gas price went up.

Seems alot people miss the point of "Law of supply and demand".

Since holiday travel is going to be high, what does that means? The answer is way obviously, that means the demand for gas is going to increase so therefore the cost is GOING TO INCREASE, period. If the demand is decrase then the price will go down. It has nothing to do with taxes.

If you watch closely with gas price and holidays, and season you will notice the pattern. I have seen it and almost never wrong. The only time it went wrong is when the crude oil price shot up to $149.00 a barrel where there is no reason why they jacked up to $149.00 a barrel.

Now put yourself as a sales person. You are selling a stuff. And you notice alot people scream and wants your stuff, what are you going to do? Leave the price alone? I don't think so, you will more likely will want to increase price. On other hand if no one wants to buy from you, what are you going to do? You will be forced to lower the price. This is very natural response in capitalism world, hence "Law of supply and demand"

I was gonna say... are you forgetting that thanksgiving is coming? The price ALWAYS increases BEFORE holidays. There is NOTHING unusual.

Ironic that those who complain about socialism also complain the price of capitalism - supply and demand.

There is a nice little chart in here for you. The price fell before Thanksgiving last year. :) Fell before Memorial day and Labor day too. Did rise before Christmas though. But you said ALWAYS

I don't see txgolfer complains about gas price.

I know it is normal for gas price goes up on nearly holiday but not always.

You got my point a crossed, the economy went down, more people out of work, less people able to afford travel during these times, right now economy somewhat picked up thus more people are going to travel this coming Thanksgiving... So, it is really based on law of supply and demand. Less demand, price will drop.

Always huh?
