Hello, I'm 19 years old girl from Japan.
I'm majoring political science in my uni(sophomore).

I'm studying English and hope to have friends to talk in English.
My English is not so good, but if you can understand me, let's talk:)

There are many ways I can find friends of English speaker online,
but fortunately I find this website!
We have something special in common(if you are deaf) so I'm happy if we can be friends..

I want to learn how it is to be deaf in your county.
And aside from this, also interested in foreign countries itself ..:)

Hello :) I am Italian so I get your point about a not-so-good English. Improving my English is one of the reasons why I'm here but, if I were asked to choose between the two options, I must confess I'd rather learn some basic Japanese words/expressions. I am soo fascinated by Japan! Will you teach me some interesting stuff? :)
And "of course" I am deaf, so I think we couldn't be more sympathetic to each other :)

And, what do you think about the Japanese language? Do you find it easy to lip-read? Don't know about you, but I do rely on lip-reading.
The problem with that is, I can manage to understand people as long as they are speaking in my native language. I can't understand English at all, and I often wonder if that's because of English itself, or because my brain just can't comprehend a language I wasn't raised with - although I lost my hearing when I was 3 yo. I noticed that Japanese, just like Italian, is plentiful with vowels..

Actually recently I also think about it !

Me too sometimes rely on lip-reading.
I think Japanese is relatively easy to read because the pronunciation is not so complicated. It's plain.
I didn't know Italian is same.
It's nice to know for me. Then it means.. I can learn Italian someday.

And I can't understand English at all. Me too have same question to you.. English itself is difficult to read or not?

And I want to tell you one good fact..you will be able to understand Japanese, maybe!
And it's new to me Italian is easy to read!

I would have to say it is easier to lipread the Italian language, because you know the lip movements better, for me, I can lipread English well, but I don't even try with another language lol,, if I don't understand the person, I tell them or ask a friend what they said lol
 
I have always thought that Italian is lip-readable because of the several vowels - each word ends with a vowel. Consonants are notoriously harder to discern and, for example, if you can understand this:
- o - e / -- ai?
and the context is: you have just met somebody you know,
then you will easily GUESS the question was "Come stai?" . (to our Japanese friend: this means "How are you?" :))

Actually, I am convinced that lip-reading is mostly a guessing game.

English can also be lipread is hopeful for me, who wanting to learn English more..

You might find the "QUOTE" button helpful, it is bottom right of the messages you want to respond to! (to ashley and the others: I have doubts about the expression and the preposition for "bottom right". Will you please clarify, please? :))

Regarding our questions, I guess we will have to learn a third language to know! :)

Oh I wish I knew Deutsch too!
The only words I know:
Ich heisse (I won't write my name here because I don't really want mortimer mouse to know it :lol:). Ich bin einundzwanzig Jahre alt und ich war (?) in Deutschland dreimal! (#countlessmistakes)
