Heat wave in Pacific Northwest

Keep the heatwaves there. :lol:

I'm enjoying a nice high 63F to low 45F winter in West Australia. :)
 
Oh boy....5 days of heat wave...that's not normal for here. Normally it lasts for 1-2 days, but 5? We'll see what happens. We're getting El Nino after all. :( We just had thunderstorm this evening. It was 77 today.

Plus, this high ridge pressure system off the coast of Washington is what causing this heat wave rather than attribute completely to an El Nino event as the reason. It's not yet an El Nino! Read on.

There was a record number of high days back in August 1981 (see komonews link) but there was no El Nino event in 1981 but from 1982 to 1983 (see page 23 - http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/analysis_monitoring/lanina/enso_evolution-status-fcsts-web.pdf ). Also see page 25 see the 1981 values, no ONI value greater than 0.5 C. Secondly, an El Nino anomaly event (full fledge) must persist for at least 3 months (see page 21 and 25) with an ONI value of at least +.5 C or greater. The most recent 3 month ONI value is from April, May and June with an ONI value of +.02 (see page 22). Until July is over then we can add up the ONI value from May, June and July to see whether in fact we have an El Nino event though the link states that we should expect a strengthening.

It have been between 80's to 90's since.. My house seems are not too hot, though :)
 
It reached 94 today. Tomorrow is forecasted to reach 97.

It's official; we have a record high for July 27th.

The National Weather Service is reporting that the official temperature hit 103 degrees, an all-time high for the date. Triple-digit temperatures are forecast to continue until Wednesday.

Crap. It is now 78.4 degrees and it is only almost 1:30 am!

Sighs. =/ it will be very hot later. 101 degrees. :roll:

How fun... I can't sleep well. Even this, I don't get enough of sleepness last night and two days ago.

It will be 97 today and it's a bit humid right now....80 degrees right now with 64 dewpoint and it feels like 83 degrees.
 
It's hot here.... and most of the time, I love it but yesterday was just too hot for me that I can't stand being outside!

in south texas u use the fans to circulate the air condit. u cont go w out a/c down there unless ur near the lake. my place in del rio was at the lake and when my a/c went out i spent all day in the water but even at 12 am it was 80 degrees. del rio is on their 35th day in a row over the temp being over 100. and aug is hottest mth of the yr only gets worse!! WA is having a heat wave compared to thier normal but it sure feels great to this texan!!! well Washingtonian now....
 
What? How did the forecast models know? Yesterday, It predicted 94 and we got 94, and today it predicted 97 and we got 97 today. 0.0.....let's see if it can predict the forecast for tomorrow of 101 which the y2k-esque forecast computer couldn't fit a triple digit because it's so rare...they had to squeeze it in. You can see it on the orginal post of this thread.

This is the year 1985 all over again.....

83 here at 10:10 pm.

I was out to get a few items at the grocery store and it's pretty warm outside. The ice cream got soft pretty quickly! I also watered the tomatoes as well, best time to water the garden in the evenings or early in the mornings.
 
84 degrees at 11 PM. Comfortable temperature will start when it gets below 80.

Yep. Finally! About time! In my area, it is 82.0 degrees. It's kinda of better.

I have not enough sleep, yet. No sleeping for three days straight now. :lol: Oh, well. I hope I will try to sleep tonight. *crossing fingers*
 
Mine is 86 degree at 11:16 pm, I just finished went to small gas station to grab bunches of cold Sobes and put the fan with door opening right now, hope that helps...
