HD-DVD player now in stock...

There is no closed captioning supported, you are correct. But there are now more and more "SDH" which interprets into Subtitles for the Deaf and Hard of hearing which is more like captions, being descrpitive of things like sounds that are relevant to the experience. I believe the option is there, to choose normal subtitles or subtitles for the deaf. Why no more closed captioning? I do not know why. But I will speculate that it may cost the company less to subtitle it themselves than it is to pay a closed captioning agency to do it for them.

Thats exactly what I think too since it seems more cheaper for the studios that release film on DVD to make the subtitles rather than let the FCC or CC agency do it for them.

Steel X - The studios better do a professinal job of subtitling the HD movies. FCC does not require them to include the closed captions on the DVD.

Closed captions is too old and it is time to move on. I prefer subtitle over CC

It will be cool when most shows or new TV will including subtitles built-in then fuck to CC.

Hey...want to ask you a question about the subtitle on the HD movies. I am leaning to buy the XBOX 360 with the HD DVD player. I am concerned about the subtitles. Are you really happy with the HD subtitles over the orginial DVD's subtitles? Do you feel a regret that the HD DVD and Blu-Ray don't support the closed caption? Let me know. Thanks!

HD-DVD King Kong subtitle was more clearer as same as picture than regular dvd subtitles. Both movie was not included closed captioned. I will check when i get more movies of HD-DVD for closed captioned or subtitles. Will let you know.

Also I ordered new 60 inches television should be on the way. I have not play much on xbox 360 lately. Mostly of time, my daughter played. I want to get Wii for my daughter. So she can get away from my xbox 360.

bought a HD-DVD with the HD-DVD "The fast and the furious" even thou the HD-DVD King Kong and Universal dvd remote obviously came with it too since it is a special edition pack.

Thank god that I got HD VGA cable for my monitor months ago and experienced gaming in true HD which is great indeed and just watched the fast and furious movie in HD which I can obviously tell the resloution is tons better than the standard dvd version. The colors are pretty smooth, you can really see the sweat and skin of the people very clearly. There werent that many other HD-DVDs that I wanted to get so I will have to wait on that for awhile.

and speaking of awhile...since I already got HD VGA to play games in HD and the HD-DVD drive to watch movies in HD, etc...I feel at this time that I dont need the HDTV since I mostly play games and watch dvds than watch tv anyway.

Maybe in the future I would try my best to buy one of those 1440p HDTVs.

Right now I think I got what is enough for me as a gamer and movie watcher so thanks to my VGA montior with HD VGA cable. I got exactly what I need. :)

Great that you got a high-definition player. :)

Though there's no need in getting a 1080p television set if it's under 50". Believe me, you don't because it's not that easy to see the difference between 1080i and 1080p under that size. 1080i will suit you just darn fine.

In fact, a lot of experts say so.

Yeah, what Banjo said. I have read the same thing, that under 50' is not worth worrying about 1080p. Besides, with 1440p looming, 1080p will become cheaper.

If I were you I would not worry about a TV till next or after next christmas, and I recommend a LCD for gaming, with of course, a VGA input.

I don't think 1440p is worth it. Because most channels for HDTV will go to 720p to 1080p. I doubt for HD channels will go for 1440p. Maybe in 10 years.

I bought 1080p HDTV 60 inches. I got it very good deal. And they made mistake to put on wrong price. I took advantage of it. Plus I used my work discount 10 percent off on that tv. I save over 1400 dollars. I always want big screen tv for a long long time. I got it same price as 720p HDTV. Smaller tv wont see much different. On big screen tv that you can see much difference. Reason that 1080p is good for big screen. I played GOW on my new tv. WOW! I can not describe this. Even on HD-DVD and BD looks blast!
Dvd player with hdmi still worth to buy. It can progressive to 1080i. I tested that. It is better than component. Compare to hd-dvd and bd. It is really close. Just let you know. I have experienced with those.
