I know.. I think they should make a law that they should only run for 6 months before election. No longer than that.
 
I usually watch shows on paid service (standard channel) and I don't see political ads (rare) but it is very common on local channel like NBC, ABC, CBS, CW, FOX.

Yeah , I don't see political ads on some channels but I like to watch some shows on NBC, ABC, CBS & Fox
 
Explain this..the new president voted in in November but don't take office until next year..What if a war declared who has authority the sitting president or pending one.i asked before but no one was sure

The sitting President would be in power till January when new one is sworned in.

The sitting president. The new president doesn't take office until he is sworn in, Jan 20th of 2017, Inauguration Day. A big celebration in the US.

I'm surprised no one had the answer before. It's a simple question.

The current President is still President until the new one is sworn in.

Only Congress has the authority to declare war (Article 1, Section 8).

The President, as Commander in Chief, has the authority to defend the nation or take military action without a declaration of war (Article 2, Section 2).

I have a hard time to understand about what Caz saying so I let other members to take care.

The term for US president is every 4 years and they can running for 2nd term to make 8 years in total, also US president is limited to 2 term, that it.

The president's election happens in same year as Summer Olympics and leap year.

1980, 1984, 1988, 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016, 2020, 2024, 2028, 2032, 2036, 2040, 2044, 2048, 2052 - repeat every 4 years.

No, the pending president has no power to do anything until Jan 20th 2017. All remains the same until that date.

Only Congress can declare war, so it doesn't depend on who is President at the time.

If there is an immediate need for military action without a declared war, the President, as Command in Chief, can order that action.

For example, on Dec. 7, 1941, when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, at that moment the US was not yet at war with Japan. However, FDR could immediately order US planes to attack the Japanese planes in defense of our country and people. He didn't have to wait for Congress to declare war.

If the sitting President died in December, his Vice President would take over for the rest of the term. That is, until the President-elect is sworn in in January.

That's why when the President gives his annual State of the Union address to the joint assembly of Congress, one of the Cabinet members is absent. If something catastrophic happened and the Prez, VP, and the rest of those in the line of succession were killed during that joint meeting, at least one from the list would be safe elsewhere. That person would become President.

I guess it was prepared when in case if Soviet attack our country and our constitution isn't going to be suspended at all.

I knew this why the president and vice president don't fly on the same plane. Would there be special election to vote another vice president if something like that did happen?

It will cost a lot to have special election for vice president so that's not going happen, also our election use electoral college that is very complicated.

I prefer popular vote all way, but no way to change the US Constitution.
