Has anybody else seen the changing of the American flag anywhere else yet?

Oh, excuse me. Well, there were North Carolina and South Carolina just like West Virginia and East Virginia. It is confusing to me which Carolina I was referring to. So it is Charleston, South Carolina. Okay, I made a mistake on the wrong direction for Carolina.
There is no state called East Virginia. There is a state called Virginia.

I know some people get confused about North Carolina and South Carolina but they are two totally different states, and we residents of those states get tired of having them mixed up. So, it's nothing personal--I just wanted it to be CLEAR about the difference. After all, you don't want people to think that you live in Santa Fe, MEXICO, do you? :)

As for African Americans have equal rights to be like everyone like jobs (discrimination) and fair treatment whether in court or jail. No beating. No bashing. If the Whites show respect to the Black person, the Black person would respect that back. No racial comments that would make the Blacks and diverse people get upset.
During the past 10 days, on the TV or online news, have you seen how the black and white people behaved in Charleston? The only disrespect shown was by people NOT from Charleston but from other places.

Charleston race relations aren't perfect but they certainly aren't any worse than any other American city, and a lot better than many.

The Whites should get along with our differences in our skin colors, the way we dress and the way we talk without jumping in conclusion with fear and paranoid. You don't have to be gung-ho over being blond and blue eyes over it. If they don't like how we operate in USA, then they can moved back to Europe where they belong from (ancestors before they sailed to the shore of USA). We are suppose to be a melting pots all over North America.
I assume you're using the generic "you" and not referring to me. There are no blonde/blond blue-eyed people in my family.

Not all American ancestors came from Europe. They came from all over the world, much of it the non-white world.

Yes, we are supposed to be one large melting pot. We blend together in one broth of common language and culture, and add the spices of our varied backgrounds to make the pot delicious.

So you saying Flags hurt people like guns kill people?
People need to really get a life, next thing we know there will be PETA laws we cant walk anywhere or drive because we are killing MILLIONS of ants everyday when we step outside.....That isnt already a law is it?

DONT WANT THEM keep them.
Besides, except for first-generation immigrants, no one else in America is "from" any other country. That is, anyone born in America is "from" America, not some other country. Native-born Americans have no countries to go "back" to.

Derek, we need to buy up those turbo chargers before they ban them for sucking up more air than the average car, creating a bigger hole in the ozone and less for us to breathe....lol

Banning that flag should lead to banning History books too, because those books have SOOOOO much more information in them.... that flag isnt **** compared to the books. That flag did no harm, it was the people, just like people pulled the trigger, people invented the spoons that made themselves fat....ect...
People have nothing better to do so they make up crap.... guns kill people, cars kill people (why arent cars banned) come on, wake up, smell the roses...

the government regulates everything, dont be surprised you have to start paying for every breath of air you take, having to wear a monitor in the future...lol
Hey, if theyre bored enough they will come up with something to generate revenue.
Its illegal to pay taxes more than once on something but we pay taxes on our cars and homes every year....am I not correct.... better wake up.

They're not banning the Confederate flag, folks are still free to fly it if they want to. They're just saying the S. Carolina government won't fly it anymore, because you know, they're part of the union and have no business flying a non-US flag. Flying the Confederate flag would be like some state flying some other nation's flag at the state capitol, weird.

But at home, business, car, or on their underwear, people can put whatever flag they want.

North Carolina and South Carolina being totally different... hmmm can you list some examples that outsiders didn't know?

did you not see they want the plates removed? that violates anyones rights to display it....regardless what its printed on.

no it's not a violation. it's a state-issued plate.... not a "personal" plate... therefore your license plate is not protected by First Amendment. It is not a right... it's a privilege given to you by the government.

but people are free to post a Confederate sticker or flag in their car.

is it not called a Personalized plate? You pay a fee for it

Put it another way... Freedom of speech.

again - it's approved and printed by the government.

a personalized plate only means you can pick a certain name/number that you want as long as it's government-approved but it doesn't mean you can pick ANYTHING you like. just because you paid for it doesn't mean it's yours entirely. this is not the same thing as you buy a thing from a store.

another way? no. you're free to do whatever you want for your car except the plate.

this is really a very simple thing... put a bumper stick or fly a flag in your car. what's the problem?

WRONG, you can pick any background you want in some states if you have qualifications for it ( nurse, military...ect... even flags ) and some you dont need qualifications for such as the flags... so, they are in violation and I guarantee you there will be a constitutional overturn on it once someone takes it to court...been done before on other stuff. just wait.

You mean other than accents and BBQ?

before he asked about children of gay marriage like to know how he feels about aborting baby girls in his country

This is actually a fairly strong argument and raises the question as to whether states should provide personalized plates at all. I don't know what it takes to get something as a personalized plate, or what the rules are, but I know it's not wide open or we'd see Nike, Pepsi, Apple, and god only knows what other company advertisement plates out there already. (I wonder what the Viagra plate would look like)

My initial thought is that plates are provided by (and maybe stay the property of?) the state government. It'd be like a state putting a Union Jack on a license plate, weird since we aren't part of the British Empire anymore. Our government entities shouldn't be displaying the Union Jack because it implies that entity wants to go back to being under British rule. In the case of the Confederate flag it implies a separatist state, and I don't think anyone actually wants to separate (except maybe Cascadia, that movement is totally real).

But thinking about personalized plates, this might be a seperate issue entirely. As far as I know, there aren't plates available that let people display their religions, or basically any other huge array of interests.

Personally, I completely believe in people's rights to fly whatever flag, hold whatever beliefs, and more or less do whatever they want so long as it doesn't directly/deliberately cause harm (physical or mental) and it doesn't prevent others from the same freedom. But organizations like the government represent many people and as such need to keep a uniform message.
