Okay, another news regard to so called "Sexual harassment", heres the link Student suspended for sexual harassment after hugging teacher - CNN.com

So, 6 years old gets disciplined for kissing, and a senior HS student gets a year long suspension for hugging a teacher. Too much drama over sexual harassment. Understand that it is illegal to perform sexual harassment, here is a question that came up in my mind last weekend when I was in DC area.

See photo below...

You know, transit system usually are funded by government, they banned sexual harassment, isn't it okay for them to post sign like shown in photo above? Image, that I am male and I dropped my friend who is also male off at metro (Transit), isn't it considered sexual harassment because I am dropping off my male friend at "Kiss and Ride" area? Couple of my friend never thought of this and realize this, and I ain't gonna kiss my friend AT ALL! And I could treat that as sexual harassment on that government owned sign, eh?

What are your thoughts? Are we Americans going overboard with "Sexual harassment" issues?

I'm pretty sure that the Mom of 6 years old girl complained to school. Therefore school originally decided to suspend the 6 years old boy. All it takes is an overzealous parent or 2 to get a mountain out of molehill.

Don't you see another news about Georgia Senior High school got suspended from school for ONE FULL year? All just because he hugged a teacher. Isn't it too much, if it really is, why there is sign at Metro say "Kiss and Ride"? Isn't it sexual offensive? I would be confused if it is NOT okay at school but okay at public area? Mind you, school is often public, eh?

Maybe they do things different down there or everywhere now. When I was in school teachers whacked us with sticks or sent us to the principals office to be paddled. They were nice to us most of the time but hugs were never part of the deal.
All that huggy wuggy stuff makes me want to hurl anyway. Teachers are in a position of respect. He crossed it completely in a rapid manner with no "permission" moment. The small womans reaction was immediate. We did not get to see what might have come next. It was an opportunistic aggressive action on his part and was treated as such by her. I am glad to see that the school placed an appropriate value on her right to be not molested on the job. Too bad the kid did not.

Unless someone opens the arms to hug, you MUST ask first, "May I hug you?" politely. I notice more women don't like to be hugged without permission. One time I saw the male co-worker hugging the female co-worker who didn't open her arms. She got pissed off big time. I was shocked when I saw her yelling at him. He was lucky because she didn't report it to a supervisor. Then he told me that she was a bitch.

If you hug your supervisor without her permission at work, you can get suspended or fired for sexual harassment (physical contact). No difference! Respect women!

As for the sign, that's off point.

I don't recall ever seeing one of my teachers hug a student or be hugged by a student.

When I was a younger kid, I saw teachers hug students to console them, and young kids hug teachers. In elementary school, we did have a 6th grade male teacher who was disciplined for inappropriate touching girls. It wasn't a teacher I happened to ever have but other kids I knew had him and experienced it. So i've seen various things. I don't think it's disrespectful to appropirately hug a student, and of course, depending on age and situation.

CP, no I am not going off point. The topic of this thread is really about the damn sign that said "Kiss and ride", not the hugging incidents. My point here is, supposed that teacher would drop that same boy at "Kiss and Ride" area, isn't that considered sexual harassment? Isn't that sign a sexual offense "Suggestive" in any way?

Don't forget that schools and public transit facilities are a public areas so sexual harassment laws shouldn't make any exceptions.

didn't you see how a teacher pushed him away?

kids and adults are different. apple orange.

public school is not the same as public area. you're confused.

like I said above... public school and public area are not the same thing just because they both have the word "public".

public school simply means a government school for any kids. by your logic - anybody can walk into public school and do whatever they want like it's a playground or a park.... why? because it's a public area. that's just stupid, right?

do you know what's a "Kiss and Ride" really mean? it's a public transportation commuter area where a driver drops off a loved one at metro station... and obviously they kiss before they leave... hence "Kiss and Ride". if you're thinking something else... then you need to get your mind outta gutter.

Hell! I know what it means! STILL the term used is NOT always applicable to everybody DUH! like I said earlier, I was picked him up at "Kiss and ride" area, mind you he is male and I AIN'T kissing him for christ sake! Why can't they use better term than "Kiss and Ride" and that phrase could translate as "KISS and fu*k" to some people! So therefore that phrase COULD easily be viewed as sexual harassment.

It would have been more neutral and appropriate to use term as

"Metro passengers pick up and drop off zone" Or something like that.

EDUCATION! That kind of message is actually teaching kids about "Kissing" and who said metro transit is limited to adult???? Children are permitted to ride there too! Makes no difference between public school and metro because Metro is STILL a public area! So public is STILL public!

Hire a lawyer to sue the government for sexual harassment. :giggle: Please let us know whether you are winning or losing. OK? Thanks.

children kiss their parents good-bye. is that ok with you? and is it ok with you if children kiss some strangers?

Makes no difference between public school and metro because Metro is STILL a public area! So public is STILL public!
your argument is invalid.

It is kind of a pervy sign Kiss and Ride. Like a porn movie thing. It really makes no sense. How about Fart and Ride now that makes sense. I hate that when someone sneaks out a bomb on the bus.

You two guys don't get it. Several people I talked in person see my point and didn't think of that way til I mention to them, these people are from DC area.

The whole point is, there is law that bars from sexual harassment in public area PERIOD, whether it is public school, Store, museum, workplace, etc, there is NO exception in law. YET, it is "OK" at the metro drop off zone? I don't think that zone deserve any exemption because the sign were funded by government and government law was supposed to apply on it.

Sexual harassment laws prohibits ANY suggestive comments of ANY kind, and it is IN the book!

Ask yourself, are you allowed to bring in to your work 2014 calendar that contains pictures of 13 HOT ladies, no porn whatsoever, just hot women in bikini with beach in background, can you do that? Why not? No porn in there, right? Same principle!

No, no point of contact council person. I have reported to Metro.

It is NOT for myself, but for everybody. Not every person view the same, you may not view this as sexual harassment BUT others may view so.

And guess what, Jiro and CP? You have proved me that you ARE supporting sexual harassment conduct, and SHAME on both of you!

Why do I have to repeat? I K N O W ALREADY! And how many times do I have to repeat for you to understand, and which part "I know" don't you understand? See post #11!

My question was damn easy, and very simple.... Is these phrase actually means something else and could meant in "sexual suggestion manner"???? I don't care what DOT says so, sometimes when we say something which may sounded innocent could later become offensive.
