That's true, I often think 'at least I don't know what I'm missing.' I sometimes wonder, though, if a magical cure came along, with no side effects, which would give me 'normal' hearing- would I take it? I don't know. I can manage reasonably well with my hearing aids, but there are times, like in crowded places, where I really struggle and wish I had that magical (cough*stemcell*cough) cure. On the whole, I don't know if I would take it- I've been how I am for 24 years, and learnt how to lipread, and to be honest I think suddenly being fully hearing, with no previous experience of it, would scare the sh*t out of me!
