So lucky you will have a lot of firewood. With us moving, we are going to try to burn through much of what we have now, and start over so we have less wood to move. We might be short on firewood for a bit. We are not moving to an as-wooded area that we have now.

you could call up the park department and see if they'll let people cut up fallen trees in the park. Some parks will let people use the fallen trees for firewood .

The trees are coming down now! The pine tree is first. It's like an army of men and equipment out front. TCS is taking pictures to post later. Every time a section of tree hits the ground the house shakes.

It is a thought in the back of my head. There is a lot of 32 - 36 inch diameter sections. Right now the wood is very wet.

Hey Reba, is your house the white one with blue trim? I can't belive how close those trees were to the two houses. Those are some HUGE trees. Glad they are down, one less thing to worry about.

Reba said I could reply. Yes the white house with blue shutters. That is our tropical themed, farm house style. The oak was 7 feet from the house and a main root was running under the porch. If the tree blew over raising the base, we would loose the entire corner of the house (living room downstairs, master bedroom above).

If you are going to slice it for tops, leave the log whole to dry. If you slice it now it will split in the center as it dries. I found out the hard way then the tree trimmer told me to leave the log whole and slice later when it dries out.

I love the colors. We are trying to pick paint colors for our house. Our drainage pipes in our yard are totally blocked with tree roots. Hubby dug up a bunch of different sections but he couldn't clear them out. We are going to have to hire someone to come out. It is going to be a big job and I am sure pretty expensive.

Glad the trees are gone and you don't have to worry about them falling on your beautiful home.

Oh and TCS your wife thinks you are an amazing husband. I'm blessed with a great one too.
