... Attacking PlayStation Network And Xbox Live — And Will Never Do It Again

The notorious hacker collective “Lizard Squad” says it is no longer attacking PlayStation Network or Xbox Live and will not do so in the future.
You can thank Kim Dotcom for that, the group says on Twitter.

Kim Schmitz, a.k.a. Kim Dotcom, is the German founder of the defunct file-hosting service Megaupload, and the current founder of his new file-hosting service, Mega. He is also the founder and main funder of New Zealand's "Internet Party."

Yeah right,,Go tell cops you didn't mean to shoplift and you won't do it again ,when you got caught guess what they tell you,,YOURE GOING TO JAIL! I want FBI make an Arrest Thats what I PAY MY TAXES FOR!

huh? they never got caught. they stopped because -

It's unclear how Dotcom's offer solves any of those issues, but perhaps the Lizard Squad members felt they got their point across, and settled to exit with their prizes: lifetime memberships to Dotcom's new privacy service.

they have achieved a goal - a bragging right and worldwide attention.

It doesn't matter if they stop doing it. They will be arrested for the crime they ALREADY committed.

*shrug*

I say good luck! what they did is hardly a terroristic threat. all they did is disrupt whiny kids' game and ruin their christmas. their hacking method is hardly threatening. A DDoS attack? oh please! I hope FBI isn't wasting their time on Lizard Squad.

Jiro a crime is a crime no matter how small or big the crime is its still a crime. Like no stopping at a stop sign. Its a petty small crime but you will get a ticket if a cop sees you you didn't stop at a stop sign.

this is a country where a cop does not always punish you for every little thing. I've ran thru a stop sign and a cop didn't ticket me. just a warning.

ayiyiyiyiyi. your behavior really has become very bizarre and extreme since Lizard Squad disrupted your game. you've become like an angry child. I didn't realize your gaming addiction is pretty bad.

Hacking is not a crime?

http://www.ncsl.org/research/teleco...ter-hacking-and-unauthorized-access-laws.aspx

Generally, they are designed to infect other computer programs or computer data, consume resources, modify, destroy, record or transmit data, and disrupt normal operation of a computer system.

If PS and Xbox didn't work that day due to the hack, they lose millions of dollars, didn't they?

never said it's not a crime. just that it's not important. do you have any idea how many companies/websites get DDoS attack? everyday! thousands of them!

this one is hardly a concern. a very low priority. it's just a game! repeat after me - IT'S. JUST. A. GAME!

FBI has something better things to do.... like hunting down online pedophiles and finding Sony hackers. Lizard Squad? OH PLEASE! btw - here's a better link... http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/investigate/cyber

The FBI certainly is. We lead the national effort to investigate high-tech crimes, including cyber-based terrorism, espionage, computer intrusions, and major cyber fraud. To stay in front of current and emerging trends, we gather and share information and intelligence with public and private sector partners worldwide.
So it's serious that FBI would investigate anyone who hacks into the system like PS and Xbox. I read somewhere that if you shut down its internet, you shut down its economy.

In here, you can get ticket for stopping at stop sign, anyway.

FBI are extremely busy with MANY cases, much as millions so they don't have much time to go after low priority hacking like DDoS.

I myself had a bad PS addiction a few years back, but quit that cold turkey, and haven't looked back. I'm far better off not spending 18 hours a day in front of a TV and a game console-- I have much better things to do with my life. I have not played PS games for nearly 5 years now. Life is much better than it was then.

There are many FBI agents all over America. However, I think we should have Internet cops since FBI works on other cases like murder, fraud, etc as usual. Just like a new federal agency, Homeland Security that focus on terrorism after 9/11. Due to high tech, hackers are getting better and better at hacking so they need to be stopped. Don't you think?

no we do not need another agency. FBI has several departments. all they have to do is recruit more agents and that's what they did.... Each state has its own cybercrime unit as well.

Homeland Security does not focus on terrorism. It's not an agency. It's just a cabinet department. The sole purpose of Homeland Security is to ensure a smooth, transparent communication between all agencies and to report to the President.

We have Department of Defense.... Department of State... Department of Treasury.... and now Department of Homeland Security.

DoD focuses on military/foreign side. DHS focuses on civilian/domestic side.

we have NSA to help. so yea we don't need another agency. that will just create more headache and a serious waste of resource and tax money.

um.... Lizard Squad did not hack into PS/XBox system. They launched DDos attacks. it's nothing to brag about. Sony hackers would scoff and laugh at them.

It's very easy to protect yourself against DDoS attack.... just put up a better security system and have redundancies in place. Do you remember from 2 years ago, the hackers around the world aka "The Hive" (Anonymous) tried to attack Amazon.com?

they failed miserably. it was hilarious. so they said - let's attack paypal instead! it took them 10 days.

You are all fear over hacking.

You can't beat hackers, anyway.

That's kinda why I chose to reveal it when I did..... his signs are too classic as an addict. That is why I stopped cold turkey in 2010. Haven't even touched a game console since then, except maybe the Wii a few years back, but now that I'm doing more physical stuff, even that's not something I do anymore.
