If it involves an impairment to one's mental faculty that could affect reasoning and understanding because of a growing condition affecting judgement I would request any politician regardless of party to retire. It's bad enough as it is right now anyway.

I .. uh.. mm.. wait, I am lost here... *pauses* uh yeah.. I agree.

If a Republican says the same thing, think Kokonut would post and say the same about him? Think not.

Well of course not. GW's cocaine use keeps getting passed right over.

You might want to lay off googling Obama for awhile, and visit Web M.D. You are making assumptions that have virtually no foundation.

Didnt many Republicans want Rush Limbagh run for office?

So? He doesn't want to run. Why should he?

So if he decides to run, would you and other conservatives be thrilled even though he has a history of substance abuse? :hmm:

But he won't. That's the thing. This isn't about substance abuse. My response was about diminished mental capacity as in the case of Hank Johnson. How far down the road would it require that a Congress member really need to retire because of a serious condition affecting judgement, reasoning and mental capacity? Suppose a stroke hit one member and renders him/her the inability to reason or understand the things going on around him/her? Let him/her stay in that seat or time for the person to retire and move on? That's what I'm getting at.

Oh....I see. Okay for someone with a life long history of substance abuse to run for office.....including several relapses.....but someone with a liver disease shouldn't?

Makes virtually no sense what so ever.

You can't talk about diminished mental capacity without including diminished mental capacity caused by years of toxic levels of drugs in your system.

You don't know that Rush won't run. Would you support him even though he is an admitted addict?

Look at post #29.

That video cracked me up because he was dead serious. I don't know how the admiral managed a straight face, but his response was classic: "We don't anticipate that." I don't think I could have held myself together the way he did.

I hope he things go well with Johnson's hepatitis C. That doesn't sound like a fun disease to have.

The Admiral actually kept a straight face because the sarcasm and humor went over his head, too.:P

"Dead serious."

Why does this remind me of the parrot skit from Monty Python?

Or even a Hugh and Laurie skit about nipples?

Sighhhh. No wonder he doesn't get invited to parties.
