I like both of them. I am leaning toward Epson printer. I loathe Canon, because the quality is bad, and it chews up papers like a dog. HP printers are well known for longevity. I have problems with HP printers- a lack of smudge resistance. I love Epson, because the quality is awesome. However, Epson eats inks a lot. I am quality freak, so I get paid a lot. I also prefer borderless printers. Which Epson printer eats ink much less?

Pros and Cons on HP vs Epson, please.

Epson has long been the best color printer.

Epson has long been the best color printer.

For graphic designers... I would say that. However, for the economic printers... definitely not. Kodak is the best one in that area and with cheap ink too as well.

Really? I've never used Kodak printer before. Does Kodak eats ink a lot as Epson? What Kodak printer do you use?

Lately, many Epson owners often are frustrated with clogged, and they don't last long. Most of them are photographers reported it,too. Surprisingly, Canon reviews are positively strong on Amazon.com.

Ink and toner have different cost and quantify.

Toner can cause bad smudge if make one mistake, it's ideal for flyer.
Ink is best specs for heavy photo.

I have like Epson with ink that it been doing well on photo.
HP is awesome in laser printer for flyer.

What Epson printer do you use for photos, Poweron? 1400? R1900?

My experience with Epson printers, at lest the economic ones are pretty bad. They used to make amazing printers back in the early 90s. Now, it seems like it's all cheaply made printers from China. However, I have heard different stories about the professional ones.

Kodak on the other hand, excellent for economic uses. Plus they make great photo prints too as well. The one I have is Kodak ES7. The great thing about Kodak printers is the fact that they don't have 500 different types of ink carts. It's just two types. 10 Series and 30 Series.

I don't like too many carts, either. I will check it out, Banjo. Thanks.

I guess newer Epson printers are not so amazing right now. I've made an official decision to purchase Canon printer (13 x 17).

Well, I was told that Kodak Company in Rochester, NY officially went bankrupt recently. It is closing down slowly. I couldn't believe it. I'll check that out later on the news.

for economic printers, I go with Brothers

We own Brother HL-4040CDN with networking for almost three years. The toners are afford and pretty long lasting. Around 5k paper each toner depend how much graphic on the it. We are very happy with it.

No, I won't recommend it for photography photo. We got it and we use it a lot for student, business, flyer, etc. We are very happy with it. We don't print out the photography photo so much. If happen then just upload or bring the flash USB to Walmart for photo print. We noticed that Walmart's photo lab did better than most printers withjet due glossy and water proof.

Im staying with Brother!

Just dumped Kodak Inkjet. It is not that great, it does drinks ink like hog. Last night I decided give Brother Inkjet printer one, not cheapest one but the one that takes Ethernet connection. Man! It is one awesome printer and got what I was looking for. Can scan and send to any PC as select on printer screen. Kodak? Nope, HP? I tried and it won't work and limit to one PC at a time, and requires USB, crap! I wanted Ethernet all the way. Now that this Brother Ink printer.

I do have Brother color laser and it is still work great, and Highlander is correct it is not good for pictures. I tried and it comes out sucks. Oh well.

graphics printers

The best inkjet printers for graphic design ideally should:

Be able to print 13x19 and smaller
Accept light, heavy, and double sided papers easily
Have individual ink tanks (4 to 8 colors)
Be affordable to purchase and operate
Ideally use dye inks

HP sucks for graphics because its front paper feed precludes them from using many popular heavy weight papers.
The reason for dye inks in your printer is that they work with virtually all coated inkjet paper.

Here are some great graphics printers:
Canon Pixma iX6520 Inkjet Printer
Epson Artisan 1430
Canon Pro9000 MkII
