A question I saw in motorcycle forum from while back -

"Is it wrong to ride to funeral if he was killed in motorcycle accident?"

what do you think?

No. Why would it be wrong? You are paying your respects. How does it matter how you get there?

Besides that, it could be anyone's fault the motorcyclist died and not necessarily his or her fault.

my thought exactly. How is it any different from driving to funeral if a person was killed in car accident?

We shouldn't stop living when a person passes away. The cycle of life doesn't work this way.

Life is for the Living but we show respect for the Dead. Doesn't matter how you get to the funeral to show ur respects.

I guess for funerals for those who have died in car accidents, we'll have to walk....

I see nothing wrong with going to a funeral on a motorcycle. I had a client that on was his death bed and some of his friends came to see their friend one more time and they came on their motorcycles and I the only thing I thought of was I am glad my client friends are with him.

Wow, I was thinking of this poor young man who was killed on motorcycle almost year ago after he was leaving bar. We do not know what cause this person to die from motorcycle. It would be heart attack, or it would be anything. We had two people died from walking on the side of road here in this town not too long ago. It is alike we said we should not walk to their funeral because they were killed while walking on the side of road.

That question makes no sense. It makes as much sense as "Is it wrong to drive a car to a funeral after he was killed in a car accident?"

Although... I am wondering if that question is asked because the family/spouse HATE(S) motorcycles and kept warning the rider and seeing motorcycles at the funeral are painful reminders of what killed the person. Dunno... some people are just very sensitive.

Personally, I'd simply respect the wishes of the family/spouses, because funerals are mostly for them anyway.

Almost all of the 1% club would insist you ride your hog to the funeral.

When my mother in law dies one of the people going to the funeral was nearly in car accident !

I think if the deceased is a motorcycle fanatic, it would be like honoring him/her to ride to the funeral or in the procession.

At least that motorcyclist have his own way to show up the funeral by motorcycle. If you could afford a helicopter to get there. Fine with me. At least you showed up.

We usually do a ride to the funeral and then to the location of the accident all on bikes out of respect. But I have run into family members who think it is rude but thats because they don't ride, they don't get it

Hubby told me that he wants a PGR (Patriot Guard Riders) bike escort for his funeral.

I would always defer to the family of the deceased. If they requested no bikes, then it should be respected. That's what the PGR does.

Otherwise, I don't see anything wrong with riding a bike to a funeral as long as there's no showing off involved.

Amen! "Listen for the rumble!"

No, and particularly not if he was a member of a club. It is a sign of respect for a fallen brother.

In my funeral procession I want all the cars to break down at the same time. Miles and miles of it.

the thing is - what if it's a regular family guy who enjoys riding on weekend and the family especially wife's not too keen about it because "motorcycle = death" mindset.

then one day... such a tragic day... he was killed.

wouldn't you feel "socially awkward" to ride to funeral?
