Lets look at business perspective, set personality aside.

There was a auction going on, just for that specific rock, however there are millions similar to this one around. The open bidding is a dollar, $1.01 anyone? What do you think would likely going to happen next?

Don't forget in judicial system NOTHING is personal, period.

It is not good comparative with state/national parks.

Really? It is about rocks, right? A rock out of Zapillions on this lovely planet became so so so special rock? What make this damn rock out of zapillions of rocks that people have been kicking around become so valuable and so special? Don't forget people in park DO kick rocks all the time.

Don't get me wrong, I love rocks!

Not really, there have been debating how they value it, there is no way anyone could put value in it.

Same idea, if you rob a bank, you stole their money so it is felony automatically on other hand if you decide to steal a 2 dollars candy bar from Wal mart, will they charge you as felony? I don't think so.

I don't think these two guys deserve a felony charge at all. Its excessive to me. They are not like blowing up the whole area which I could agree as felony

so..... what's their sentence?

Civil infraction is sufficient charge. Meaning pay fine or community service, nothing more. Second offense felony warning may be warranted.

that's not what I asked.

perhaps you didn't understand my question. I'm asking you what their punishments are.

Which part of "Fine or community service, nothing more" you don't understand? Isn't that considered punishment, eh?

uh...... that's not what I asked. I'm not asking for your opinion on what should they deserve. I'm asking you what they have received from the judge.

In Utah state park, the idiot (ex-scout) pushed the big rock so it was naturally sat in position until he pushed the rock and rolled into different position, so that's ruin the image of state park, known as called modified state park. You can see in their video that where they posted online. Many Utahans believe that their state parks are valuable and they don't want idiots to ruin the image of state park.

That why I don't think it is good comparative to any rocks that sell off the auction.

If you vandalize the state or national parks so you can get charged with felony, but it is depending on damage. If you only break a light bulb so it could be misdemeanor or lesser, civil penalty, but if you break the endangered or rare trees so it is felony.

Yup, if that same guy who topped the rock gets felony, he won't be able to be more productive in the society because he will be forever viewed as badass criminals and deserve NOTHING… Mind you, it is only a rock! Sadly, it is not what Americans viewed them.

they can seek an expungement.

they can seek an expungement.

Sure, they can but their names may reveal in public because of news, so we know who are two idiots vandalized the state park.

Please, I mean please step outside of the box, place that box far from you but still able to see the box clearly… that very rock in that box will look much smaller than this > . < and it was moved so small that naked eye couldn't notice, does that very spot . mean anything major to the box? I don't think so.

I still see this as blown out of proportional.

Seems there isn't much bright people out there I guess. They could have better advantage when it comes to marketing… They could advertise easily with the incident involved. How?

With man requiring toppling of that very rock by a man which is strictly prohibited, shows the tranquility of the landscape, peacefully for thousands of years. its truly eye-popping… A money making market exists…. Just wow, wow! :hmm:

Padron me for lousy English, me ASL much better. LOL

It is BIG DEAL to people who take nature of state/national parks seriously, so I have no sympathy for idiots ruined the state park, so it is big deal to me.

There are MILLIONS of rocks that size out there, what makes this rock so special?

And I now see why he isn't idiot His uncle was killed by fallen rock very similar rock he toppled. Read the news, it mentioned his uncle was killed.

Source?

Taylor, 45, and Hall, 42, have insisted they toppled the rock formation out of concern that it would fall and hurt someone, with Hall pointing out that his uncle was killed by a falling boulder. The men, who were at the state park with the Boy Scouts of America, were later removed from their Scout leadership positions.

Where you found about his uncle? I haven't find any articles about his uncle.
Utah Local News - Salt Lake City News, Sports, Archive - The Salt Lake Tribune

It is inexcusable to push the rock down into ground and they were laughed too, so their facial expression suggested that their life isn't in danger and they vandalized the state park for fun.

I don't mind if idiot gets death penalty for permanently damage the state park, so those damage is really big deal to me.

Please be honest with me… Last summer if you could remember a moment that you ever thought of this very rock? Don't forget these guy toppled the rock last fall.

I gave you link to the article that his uncle was killed. Read up!

So, if I pick up a rock from a State park, and take it home .. is that theft?
