Fake Sign Language Interpreter at Nelson Mandela memorial

*smh* That's just terrible... The Today show "joke" included.

I agree. It's not been great. However, I hope they find this guy and make him re-pay back the expenses he got paid for. He not only took advantage of the government, he also took advantage of the Deaf people there. If they find him, he should pay them back, PLUS interest.

To me this would be like hiring a translator for any asiatic language and just saying "Ching chong" over and over again. I saw this story and thought it was very wrong, he needs to be fired and so does the person that hired this moron.

And the guards of the Presidential Security they can thank this stupid man, who has allowed us to discover security holes!

I doubt it. How many deaf events do hearing people attend? That's not their area. When I was in DC I asked one of the guards for directions in the building where I was assigned...no one knew. I don't think security would be current on all the deaf events. There's probably not many in reality....
Whoa! I didn't say deaf events. Where did you get that from? Oh man, I was talking about old events like this.

And this. http://www.alldeaf.com/2258098-post33.html

And this. From the link in next post;
The government, which was in charge of the mass memorial, said it had no idea who he was, as did the ruling African National Congress, even though footage from two large ANC events last year showed him signing on stage next to President Jacob Zuma.

New details show that ANC mentioned that the government had something to do with it. So who does the security work for? The government, correct? Who let him in? Maybe the security let him in with the government official's approval or the security knows him from old events where there was a video of him. What's more, I believe that he wore his ID badge. That's my opinion since you discussed it. Forget about deaf events for a while, OK?

No...just the story about the fake interpreter.

Okay, good. It'd better not end up there without my consent, because I was the one who started the thread, and I would prefer it stay here.
