Facebook kills the spirit of the internet

I agree with GrayEagle, I have seen forums fold as everyone transitions over to FB. The smaller "niche" ones seem to go first. Some of the bigger sites, like "Pirate 4x4" will never go away, even though Lance sold it.

My problem with FB is the new timeline format and the constant changes they do to "improve" it. I have found it to be quite mundane anymore with it being half business related, off topic, oh boy I just ordered a coke at McDonald's type of format.

The days of grass roots information sites are gone and the sites are few and far between now. As you say, everyone drank the cool aid and went to FB.

Pirate is kinda "intense" sometimes. I don't think it will ever go away.

Pirate feels like home. Say what you want, when you want. They even warn you it is not a warm and fuzzy care-bear type of forum, enter at your own risk.

Like I said though..............see how it stays that way since Lance sold it

facebook sure as hell killed deafhideout. we were thriving for a while. then everyone got hooked playing stupid games like farmville on facebook and disappeared. so DH turned into a ghost town and was shut down. now members miss it and want it back.

the problem is that forums or websites do not protect members since moderators dont do anything that leaves members more unsure and chose not to post there. its too many happening all over and i even witness many times. I know moderators are not cops or teachers but focusing on words that moderators stays neutral but it isnt helping..

moderators are also human. mistakes can be made, sh*t happens and members do not alway know what is really happening behind the scenes. with that being said though, I find it appalling that several forums went down in disgusting scandals. truly sickening to watch someone, that you have put your trust in, then they turn out to be a thieving scumbag, a stalker or worse....

Yeah. some members keep devaluing other members so constanty that is how some members left the forums. FB is more of socializing with people and have fun so they can make choices to have fb group or not.

But naisho meant for some information like good informative stuff on forum but now forums are fading. I don't think so. I believe out there people who are seeking for more information then will come forward to post where its in public that others will search for it. Fb is a good social time.
