He wasn't venting. He was, I don't know, promoting hate crime. Then you have all these people saying "YEAH!" "RIGHT ON"
Some people are angry by nature. Some people are addicted to being angry. If they don't get a good dose of anger going they will go find a reason.
I'm betting this parent was angry before the child was born, and had the child been hearing then he would be angry about something else. To me the post is more about ego than it is about the child or about D/deafness.
He's not an audist, he's just an ass.
Poor child.
This thread makes me truly wonder about the state of minds those parents who contribute to the threads.
Are those parents aware they are contributing to the toxicity of their own children's formative years?
So you had a CI on your own Deaf child, it was your own parental decision. The constant need to go around on forums to post your justification does make me wonder if you, as a parent, are aware that you can be damaging your child's formative years.
If you say the CI is a wonderful thing, then leave it be.
It's a very hateful post toward the deaf community, that's for sure.
He was posting on a site that is specifically for complaining/bitching. I think he had a very bad day, probably a particularly bad interaction with a Deaf person, and he went and vented.

In all fairness, my OP was a blanket statement towards a group, when I knew at the time of posting that it didn't fit all Deafies (not by a long shot). It wasn't really fair for me to group them all like that.
Not that any Deaf people stepped in when a grown Deaf man points at my daughter and says she looks like a space alien and a robot. Nor had anyone corrected a Deaf mother of three when she told me that I was being abusive and should have my children taken away. In fact, I've never seen a Deaf person correct another Deaf person's dim view of "outsiders" when in view of a hearing person.
But whatever. Interacting with the community "in the wild" certainly hasn't left a bad taste in my mouth. [/sarcasm]
Replace it with this: F-ck you, [name race color] , and everyone else say 'yeah' That's right!
You can see how hateful it sounds.
You weren't helping him at all, dear.
Fanning the fire by pitching in yours too as well.
If he have a problem with certain deaf people, then keep it private. Don't go out and say "F-ck you, deaf community" It does alot of damage when a person do stuffs like this.
If you had bothered to read the thread you could see that I told him in no uncertain term that what he was saying was very offensive and wrong. Guess you didn't bother....
They are wrong for doing that but the father is wrong for saying F*ck you to all of us because of the immaturity of some Deaf people. I am not responsible for every Deaf person just because I am a part of the Deaf community. That makes this father just as immature.
I don't care who he was targeting. It is still damaging and NO EXCUSE.
It's new to me.
That was the point I was trying to make.
Just to those who didn't return the same respect to him and his daughter. He is learning ASL and is communicating ASL with his daughter.
