jillio - Your attempts to discredit the NCSA are really in poor taste.
I'm not discrediting anyone. Simply pointing out the bias.
People are making money marketing ASL jillio.
And, I am not working for those people, nor am I using those organizations as my reference.
Do you work for free jillio? If i remember correctly you have stated that you are at a post secondary institute. This said institute supports the programming that you are working in, right? Pull the programming...loose your income there???
I work in disability services. I doubt seriously that the funding will be cut, given that federal law mandates service provision for students with disabilities. My paycheck is not dependent upon any specific service....I get paid whether I provide a CS transliterator, an ASL interpreter, or an oral interpreter. I provide the service that the student requests. I don't promote any specific methodology, but base my service provision on what the student identifies as their need.
Does the NCSA provide a service and materials at a minimal cost, to support the people who use CS or are looking to learn Cued Speech? Yes. This does not taint the value of Cued Speech or the value of the NCSA.
No, but it certainly proves bias. They sell books, videos, memberships, workshops and certification in order to support their organization. Of course they will spend a great deal of time promoting that which pays their salary.
