emission , oxygen senor

You still can feel anything thru right gloves like nitrile, latex, and thin leather. Just get the mechanics gloves and you will feel different than cheap gloves.

Yes, I hate mostly people who "professional" mechanics who don't wear gloves and they wasted their customer's time like they can't touch anything because too hot for and let cool down for replace the brake rotors, back-cats, engines, etc.. plus they don't care about risk their health.

REAL Professional Mechanics wear the mechanics glove and do fast job like Formula1, NASCAR, Rally, drag racing, and Off-road racing.

I'm replacing Oxygen Sensor today. I found out from AutoPart that I have two Oxygen Sensors instead of one (Apparently one for Exhaust Manifold and one for Catalyst Converter). They asked me "Downstream or Upstream". I went  and immediately told him "Upstream". Cost me $26 for it. I am cross'n my finger that it's just the Manifold section Oxygen Sensor. If I got it wrong, I guess I would have to replace "downstream" one too...

I just got pneumatic air tools from my dad cuz he didn't have air compressor and it had been sitting there for a year. I have air compressor so to make my job easy.

My Subaru RS 2001 have two oxygen sensors too.

I suggest you to check Co2 with your digital multi meter and use Ohms mode then test on your oxygen sensors to make sure they are good or not. If ohms said infinite then CO2 is bad.

Many new cars made in late 90's and newer possibility have 2 o2 sensors. My car has 2. I heard that some Toyotas have 4 of them.

Here's the pix of 05' Dodge Durango Oxygen Sensor. Plan to install it once my engine cooled off. It's raining/snowy out today (sleet this morning then snow afternoon). Garage floor would be wet

HorseRace, That's what it look like. This would give you an idea where you can find it. That's why it look like sparkplug with permanent wire

View the pix that I uploaded. It's where the catalyst Converter directly connected to Exhaust Manifold.

There are special deep socket to remove Oxygen Sensor. It cost $10 at O'Reilly Auto parts. I didn't bother to buy it. It have open ended slot to allow wire to stick out while removing or installing Oxygen Sensor. I didn't buy it. I simply cut wire off and slip in deep socket to remove OLD Oxygen Sensor. Then screw in NEW Oxygen sensor by hand and tighen it with Monkey wrench.

I bought Upstream Oxygen Sensor. The difference between Upstream and Downstream is the length of wire. Downstream have longer wire than Upstream.

4 in some Toyota!! :eek2: Betcha it's gonna cost $$ to replace all 4 if you don't have handheld OBD decoder!!

I would rather go for just two

I guess you don't read my post.

Sometime OBD can't tell you which Co2 is bad. So better way to use digital multi meter to check and it cost only $20.

 Happens soemetime. Forgotten you already mentioned it.

Yeah, I will use voltmeter and check each Oxygen Sensors before I install it. I have 3 Digital Multimeters and one Analog Multimeter (I had accumulate it for 20 years oops!) . One of them cost $4 at ACE Hardware "bargain tool bins". All 3 of them had dead 9V batteries :ugh:
I will use Analog one that have good AA battery.. :giggle:

No digital?

Like that?!? Eww

Yup similiar to it, Mine is a Radio Shack Realistic Folding Analog Voltmeter, It's over 20 years old.

I used to have folding Digital Volt meter, Radio Shack no longer sells them BECAUUUSSEE... 11 years old visitor came over to my apartment where I live with roomates, while I was gone. He saw my fancy folding Digital voltmeter and he stuck it to 120v socket and fried it (he turned the dial from Ohm, AMP then Voltage so that's how it got fried). I came home and saw volt meter was moved. I checked and I was :pissed: BIG time!!. His mom was willing to pay for repair but Radio Shack no longer have replacement for it. Again I was sooo :pissed: it's one of my favorite voltmeter!! Actually, it was my 2nd Digital Voltmeter, the original was stolen so I bought 2nd one.. It cost me $50 buck each back then in 1985. That's double whammy for me!! Grrrrrrr!!

SOOO I ended up getting folding Analog voltmeter in place of Digital!!

I love folding voltmeter cuz it protects screen during transport and also it is adjustable so I can adjust and to see while measuring. Also the biggest advantage is that I can fold it a bit then hang it upside down while I was lying on floor working on it. It was so much convenience until Digital voltmeter was stolen and other fried. That made me sooooo :mad2:

Here's my Folding Analog Multimeter pix
Betcha it's very old but works very well!!

Folding Digital Multimeter look similiar but the top shell is flat...

PS: On middle pix, excuse my big mess in garage on background :rofl2:

I guess it attracts kids and thief cuz of fancy Folding Digital clamshell Multimeter. I just found folding digital multimeter and it cost $105. It have bit more features than I had on old one. http://www.elexp.com/tst_8207.htm

Otherwise, I knew who was the thief who stole my Digital Multimeter. If I ever have brave friend to get it for me if thief still alive, I would be elated if it works. I was young back then and didn't report to cop. Olathe cops were dirty back then so we didn't bother reporting it.

That's the $50 Digital Folding Multimeter which I used to have (it was retailed for $80 in 1985 but went on sale). This is my favorite one. Luckily, I kept the instruction manual and here's the pix.

I was keeping Instruction Manual for proof if I ever got mine returned from thief.

Back to Oxygen Sensor, I couldn't work on it today cuz the floor is all wet from snow slushes. I didn't have anything to put it on floor to keep me dry and clean. I bet Monday or during the week, It'll dry up and should be warm all week. Kansas just had a bad snowstorm but in my area it was a wussy storm. I guess it missed KC area hee hee hee.

I hope I don't have to buy 2nd sensor if other one gone bad.
