Funny story to tell ya...

in building every apt has the gas stove with electric starter. one night a power went off during ice storm. i could started the gas stove with a match and cooked gas stove without having the power. plus it could kept myself more warm for a while.

I know what you mean. We did the same thing after the hurricane. We had no electricity at our house for about one week. Many other people had no electricity for two or three weeks. We used our BBQ grill a lot during that time. We keep extra propane tanks for that reason.

I think all the new electric and gas stoves are much safer and easier to use now.

Our electric stove has a red light that is a heat sensor. It glows every time the stove burners are used, and continues glowing after the burners are shut off, to indicate that the stove top is still hot.

The digital settings on the stove use lights and/or beeps for timers, on/off, and temperatures.

Also, the slide-in stoves come with safety straps in the back, to prevent the stove from tipping over if a child climbs on it.

Not all electric stove have flat surface, Some have the kinda the same as gas stove but you have to pick it up to order to clean the bottom. It never bother me when I clean my gas stove. ;)

Please re-read my post. I never said that I have electricity stove with surface but electricity glass plated. ;)

Yes, it´s correct Reba.

I learn for a first time from Kuiji75´s link about improving gas stove but I still prefer to use electricty heat glass plate because it´s more comfortable and easier. Not much electricity used.

Everyone have different opinions to use electricity stove, glass plated or gas stoves. :)

I don't know what you talking about "glass plated" Don't get upset with me. I thought you talking about the flat surface. What is electrictiy glass plated then? :dunno:

Have you see Chef at Resturant and Hospitals using gas stove.

Professional Chef using gas stove in TV's cooking programme.

This is exactly what I am talking about. Commerical stoves have higher temperature as mentioned in one of the quotes in my posts. It cooks better and faster.

Some places use wood! Actually they are bbq joints. Their stove may be the slowest cooker of its kind but their meat is delicious! I hope to taste some of Cheri's bbq meat. :fingersx:

I use electric stove because of fire danger involving with gas stoves. My house has a natural gas outlet in the kitchen but I opted for electric stove instead.

No, it´s not just only gas stove. It´s ALSO using glass plated, too. I saw Professional Chef using glass plated to cook on the TV comerical.

Did you know that slow cooking make foods taste better than fast cooking?

Some of the other features on my glass-top electric are:

the large oven also has convection

both ovens are self-cleaning

the digital displays are in English, Spanish, or French (you choose the setting)

I think it depends on the food. Such as, beef steak is better if seared quickly on the outside to hold the juices inside. But leg of lamb on a rotisserie slow cooked is more tasty that way. Vegetables that are quickly sauteed or stir fried are more tasty and better texture than veggies that are boiled to death. But sauces that are slow cooked are better because the various ingredients work on each other over time. So it just depends.

Yes, I know what you mean.

Any meats will be soft if I cook slowly, example about cassorles, stews, chicken breast, beef steak, etc.

First of all I cook them with high temperature until they are brown then turn electricity off and leave them with cover lid for long hour until they are cook and soft.

I dont know anything about leg of lamb because I dont like it... :cold:

I rather to steam vegetables with very little water to save vitamins. It should be not over cook. I also use steam to unpeel potatoes, too to save vitamins.

Yes, slow cook sauce....

simple quick cook is can tomaotes, soup, fried egg, boil egg..., water for rices, noodles, etc then turn electricity off when they are soon to be ready... and leave them up to 15 to 30 minutes, sometimes 1 hour...

I often steam unpeel potatoes then turn electricity off before go to shopping... Start to prepare with potatoes for salads or butter potatoes
which it still is hot when I came home from shopping 2 hours or if I want mashed potatoes then has to peel the potatoes and steam them and turn electricity off as usual before leave for shopping.

This is my stove:

First picture shows the two ovens.

Second picture shows the glass top with the red warning light on.

I paste DoctorMcFly (Dutch)´s post from Crazymomma´s forum to here with his permission.

We got induction cooking. Its much cheaper then electric cooking. It seems that its almost the same money as gas. Induction is the newest cooking technology to come around in some time! Induction offers all of the benefits of gas cooking, with none of the drawbacks!

Here some details of "Induction Cooking"

FASTER - because energy is directly transferred within the pan metal, induction heating is extremely fast - even faster than gas!

SAFER - because there is no open flame, red-hot coil or other radiant heat source to ignite fumes or flammable materials. This also helps prevent burns in the kitchen.

CLEANER - because with no grates or carbon build-up to worry about, clean up is a breeze. Just use a damp cloth and wipe over the smooth, easy-to-clean ceramic glass surface.

COOLER - because gas ranges produce unused heat that goes into your kitchen, increasing your cooling costs. With induction, almost no wasted heat is produced since all the heat is being generated within the pan itself.

CHEAPER - because 90% of every dollar you spend on energy goes right into the pan! Gas delivers 55% of the energy you pay for to the pan and traditional electric about 65%. Plus, when you remove the pan from the induction surface, the unit immediately goes into standby mode, using virtually no energy whatsoever.

EVEN HEATING - because the magnetic material within the cookware heats at the same level uniformly, there can be no hot spots. The electronic monitoring pan maximizer feature allows maximum heating of any induction compatible pan. Even the least expensive pan will receive the same amount of heat energy from the Cooktektm cooktop.

Combine the physics with good technology as Cooktektm has and you get a great cooktop. Their temperature control microprocessor, just beneath the glass, allows you to set the temperature you wish to cook at. It monitors at 120 times per second and cycles itself on and off to maintain the desired temperature. Hands free cooking!

Yes, it´s an exactly same what I have...

Yea, it is really different stove they got oversea.. I have gas stove here and it save a lot of money in my bill. My friend from Netherlands say their induction stoves are really fast and cook faster than we cook here.. ;)
