Dumpster rental...wtf?

Nah, I wont stoop that low... they will get whats coming to them. Karma is always a "dog gon nit" and when the poo hits the fan on high, its going to spread like wild fire!
Talking to a couple lawyers in the works to see what we can do.... going to be fun.

I was joking , do have date a set up for your survey yet? Your neighbor is going to be sorry for messing with you. :giggle:

They got here about 45 minutes late, but already left with one truck load.
They were supposed to have a trailer as well but didn't bring it, otherwise they would have had half of it out already.... Well, they don't get paid til its all out...cold hard cash.

Back for a second load. Has a lot more than they thought. With cost of dumping/travel, they can do 3 loads, so I am having them to put all the wood in my truck so I can take it to a burn site, that way they can hopefully get all the debris ( drywall and other crap ) gone.
Originally thought to be 40 cubic yards, turned out to be approximately 80 cubic yards.... so I would have needed 2 dumpsters...ouch. He is going to do the best he can to rid of it all.

Sounds like you got a good guy. Is there anything you can use him for some of your future projects?

Im going to ask, don't know what all he does, but I think he is strictly hauling.

Will this make the cost of moving the trash go up b/c they have more work to do? Or was the cost a done deal ?

Well, he quoted me $750, but turned out more work than he (and I ) expected. Stuff has been in there 3 years, 2-1/2 uncovered years exposed to the elements, so the drywall broke down to crumbs. so more shoveling than anything now. So they are using my trash cans to fill and load the truck now to make it faster. The dumps are also closed so he will have to unload the truck first thing in the morning.... probly the last load here. What he doesn't take I can manage in the regular trash, as I had them load all the wood on my truck, and the other pile that's still buried they can leave in place when they remove the debris as I can load it on my truck later. Just glad the majority of this is done. Beats renting a dumpster and doing it myself, and in this case I would have needed 2 dumpsters.

I hope you all wore a facemask so would not be breathing in the dust in from the drywall. That can nasty stuff . I bet it looks a hell of a lot better now with all that trash done.

Holy hell, these guys worked 10 hours straight, non stop, 3 loads total and there is still a load left. He severely under bid this job. he showed me the dump fees and they totaled to $600 so he only made $150 to split between him and his helper and yet the fuel in the truck. He couldn't do a 4th load and he felt bad about it, but we are going to try and work something out that I get some people together to load and unload, he will provide the truck and I just pay dump fees... I had over 16 tons of debris, not including the lumber they stacked in my truck. Just wow.
The guy was very nice, very personable and I liked his professionalism. I think I am going to surprise him with a little Christmas gift as he really busted his ass trying to get it all before they left, but the truck was packed to the max. I will get morepics tomorrow, too dark now, they just left.

I had a wood stove put in my house in California and the guy under bid the job I gave him more $$$ than he bided for . He did a very good job and had to be on my roof longer than he expected to be. He was very surprised when he saw the check . I think that is a nice thing to do ,giving the men more $$$.

Wow. If you had to do it yourself I can only imagine the thread.

Day 1... "Barely scratched the surface."

...

Day 14 "Finally make a dent in the front."

...

Day 31 "Got a job with Boeing. This is taking a lot longer than thought."

...

Day 90 "I'm getting tired of this, contributing only 1-2 hours on the weekend while working full time, spending time with family."

and so on...

I ended up with over 80 yards of debris... would have taken 2 large dumpsters and 1 small dumpster to dispose of it all...ouch....

My dad once told a baby sitter she needed to use more elbow grease and the girl went to the store to buy some.

Wow, what a big project. Stuff like this, it hurts the wallet but saves your sanity. And body!

Well, The outlaws are coming up Saturday. Going to bring their trailer.
We are going to load my truck as well as theirs and the trailer, hopefully it will all fit and take it to their property to dump in a hole they need filled in... 2 hour drive but will be a nice visit since we don't see them much. Once bad weather sets in they are basically stranded where they are.... Nice to be secluded but sucks when you need groceries or supplies.
