Does profanity make you look less intelligent?

My answer to the OP...

It gets annoying when I think the person is cussing to make her/himself look cool or tries to fit in with a certain group.
That's when the person looks like an idiot.

I'm tempted to tell that person to grow up already!!!

I am guilty as the next person of swearing, especially when I'm really angry about something. However what we say and HOW we say it is a reflection of ourselves.

That last sentence is exactly so true because not only that, It also shows you as a person as a whole. :)

My 17 yr. old uses the "F" word a lot...and I caution him daily about "ur language"!...I only cuss when something really goes bad or I hurt myself on something, and at times, out of pure frustration.

I was at Walmart one evening buying groceries. And several teenagers were ahead of it....saying F this and F that or whatever...The F word was used over and over!! I just turned around, got out of that aisle! Some people can't have a conversation unless the F word gets used!

I don't like it....but I can tolerate it to an extent! A co-worker of mine even got offended if someone said "Jesus Christ"!!!...or "God Dammit!"And yeah, I invented my own words, instead of saying shyt I said shucks! It does sound "nicer"!

^^ People are startin' to feel not to care when they cuss. No respect for others when they use that language. It shows me HOW COLD their hearts are. People who cuss are the ones who have very hard heart, not soft heart. IF, they say they have soft heart, then they shouldn't cuss in the first place. They would respect themselves first before others without usin' that language.

I've seen one or 2 persons from this AD and they cuss pretty alot, not really ALOT, but they do cuss constantly -- it turns me off big time. It often makes me think that this person is not that cool.

Guilty as charged here. I dont sweat nor stress about being a perfect person. I have my flaws but I dont feel comfortable going around putting the f word in each sentence. I was watching a movie in which the characters used excessive cussing...I didnt really enjoy the movie although it had a great plot.

I've begun to wonder.....hearies "hear" the F-word all the time, I'm sure!So it might be just a "way of speaking" to them.....My deaf friends rarely ever cuss!...And I will cuss if someone or something makes me extremely angry!

I was a member of another deafie site....and certain members...their language was terrible!...Insults constantly!!...Every sentence had the "F" word in it....after 4 months on that site...I'm out! No one is "educating" me with the "F" word!...(or the insults)!...I've a thirst for knowledge!...not an education in cussing!!!

People that "over do" with the F-word, IMO...just want to "shock" or "want the attention"!!....Their vocabulary is "very limited"!...I keep "my distance" away from those types of people! I find them very bitter and angry inside! And more than likely, violent individuals, or prone to it!

I second that, rockin'robin. I've seen some ADers do that in their own sentence constantly. It's really a sore to my eyes and my eyes need to wash out! I agree with you about not an education in cussin'.

In this AD, it's best to remain discreet. ;)

Some of my neighbors use the "F" and "shyt" about this or that person. Those people who use profanity don't impress me.
