Does organic food turn people into jerks?

Just become Vegan... that should solve the problems.
That wouldn't prevent getting your bags, fruits and vegetables from being contaminated by someone else's drips at the checkout.

Of course, everyone should scrub their produce well before using.

Supermarkets here keep little plastic bags on the checkout and will wrap your raw meat in them to keep any drippings from touching your other stuff.
That's good. :) We also make sure that our meat purchases aren't put in the same bags as anything else.

But until they've been wrapped, they touch other items in the cart and on the checkout belt, and your hands.

Some baggers have enough sense not to mix food with chemical items, too. Some don't. We shoppers have to keep an eye on them, and at the same time watching the register (sometimes the prices are wrong).

Can you tell that I don't like to shop? :giggle:

We shop at a discount grocery store where we bag our own groceries, so we also load the conveyor belt, and separate items we don't want together, and so keep this all in mind. We usually use the free plastic bags/bring from home to put meat packages in. Keep chemical stuff like soap separate, etc. Plus load the bags only the weight we're capable of carrying. We do a better job of packing up. :P

Right. Fruits and vegetables aren't always safe as well. They always carry bacteria with them directly from growing from soil. My father aka soil scientist mentions that a size of soil teaspoon generally carry one billion bacteria.

Remember, last year, several people have died eating cantaloupes infected with listeria.
