When you get hurt do you move around and shake it off or curse?
Jump up and down?

Like if you hit your toe against the door. Or got your hand mashed.

If you eats chili pepper like this old man eats a Bhut Jolokia, do you do what he does?

Depending on what it is I've done or how intense it is elicits a certain type of response. If it's enough to break bones I will will just hold whatever part has been broken for about 3-4 minutes in silence and as the pain begins to really sink in I will let out a loud bloodcurling scream then start shouting obscenities. (did this when I broke my nose, finger, and toe)

If it's a cut I will grunt really loud, apply pressure to the cut then shout SON OF A FUCKING BITCH! Then I will either hop around or I will just leave to go take care of it, again depends on how bad it is and where it's at. Did this when I put a 6 inch breast knife through my hand at work 6 years ago, only I pulled the knife out and threw it on the floor.

I've not cut myself or broken any bones in a number of years, so I wonder if my response will change with age?

Jeez, I just read this feeling like it happened. Don't know why I do this but either your writing is descriptive or somehow it got me picturing the puncture.

I would give it a try...then eat tons of breads once my mouth is on fire. I have eaten some seriously seriously hot peppers and sauces and always solved the problem with breads or milk. NEVER water!!!

To answer the question...I think I do both when I am really in pain. I could never remember what I do because my mind is usually overwhelmed with pain signals attacking it a million times per minute!

I'm not the one to mince my words when I'm in pain...I move and I cuss and kick whatever hurt me. Otherwise, I'm quite soft-spoken and use no profane language at all.

I do some of the most unbelievable things when injured or such. I am learning not to swear and curse, but it's hard to forget at times.

What is pain?

You know - that sensation in your hand when you close you fingers in the car door. Or the feeling when you slip on a patch of ice and go tumbling into a briar patch, or that cactus patch. :giggle:

This isn't entirely related, but I'm afraid of childbirth.

As for pain, I haven't really been seriously hurt, other than a stress fracture.

It's not that bad, I know this from experience. But then again I had a walking epidural, LOL.

cry.. literally. everytime I eat hot pepper, I have tears and runny nose. It's almost like I've been crying. That's just my body reaction to spicy food.

I don't say a heck of alot when in pain. But, what I do is, take pain medication. Alleviates the need for all the extra-added emphasis. ;)

As fir eating hot peppers, I simply won't do it. I'm a wimp and don't care for spicy food. I also shouldn't have spicy food to begin with since I'm prone to ulcers.

really, it depends on the pain.....

like if I hit my toe against the wall or door, first word would normally be "oh fuck!" while trying to shake the pain off by shaking my foot.

But If I accidentally cut my self with a knife, i would just grunt or moan out in pain, while trying do make fast action of grabbing the towel and press against the cut. Then sometimes I would curse, if I felt like it.

If i was having cramps or something, if its really bad enough, I wouldn't be able to move, instead I have to stay still to tolerate the pain.

one time... it was stupid of me, I went to the bathroom and i was trying to find the switch light to turn the light on, and I knocked something down but didnt know what it was. I finally turned the light on and someone called my name just I took step forward while my head turn over my shoulder. I shouldnt done that as there was broken glasses on the floor and the glass went right through my foot. I screamed out in curse, in pain and as I was hopping out of the bathroom, i was moving around, clutching onto my foot while repeating "fuck" over and over. For some reason, that seem to help to relief the pain. Then when someone has to dig into my foot and pull the glass out, I remember cursing right before i passed out from pain and sight of blood.

Childbirth.... haha, I didn't curse at all... really, the childbirth didn't hurt that much... the pain was tolerable. Infact, From what Ive been told by my family and nurses, I hardly made a sound.

Really, its different for everyone.... it just depends on their pain tolerance

My son slammed the car door on my finger. I was hopping around all over the house, panting and saying a few choice words. Then just sat there rocking myself back and forth nursing my poor swollen purple finger. I knew I would lose that fingernail!

Constant pain....... I am usually very still and quiet, and don't want to move.

haha, usually with finger and toes its a quick impulse to swear. I wonder why its such a universally natural reaction? I close the car door on my hand over a week ago, did usual swearing. Then all the pain afterward until now, just face grimacing and feel mad that I did it.

I am one of those people that suck my breath in quickly, and don't make a sound. Then, after the pain is gone, I curse!:giggle:
