Do you move around or curse when in pain?

The worse the pain is, the less sound I make. I am still recuperating from a pinched nerve in my back that spread to my left arm (five weeks so far), and when I got a pain episode I sort of grimace, with sweat dripping off my nose, so I guess I must live with my reputation as the village idiot.

I remember when I broke my knee, I didn't curse but I tried to endure the pain and I did a lot of moving around but because I couldn't put weight on my knee, I kept hopping around and leaning on furniture. I think I passed out from the pain at one time.

If I stub my toe or something like that, I will curse under my breath.

My older sister was a real bitch once and gave me real hot pepper to be funny! I was crying as the pain when right to my ears and it felt like they were on fire! My bitch of a sister felt bad when she saw how pain I was in!
Great help that did me!

At first when I dislocated my right thumb, it hurts I swore loudly but overcome when it happens again, I just grimace with the pain and try my best to pop it back in - I know it hurts but.

I broke my left thumb back in March, but I didn't realize it was broken at the time. I thought it was a sprain like any other time I sprained my thumb. I didn't really swear or say anything much...just tried to keep it still.

Same for my pinky finger on my left hand last year or two years ago (not sure) thought it was a sprained finger but it turned out to be a fractured finger - I didn't realize it was, but fortunately, the finger healed itself.

I had my thumb x-rayed 5 weeks after the break because it was healing slowly. It wasn't a sprain; it was a fracture. They told me it was almost healed and not much could be done at that point. But it is still not back to normal and it's been 3 months.

I notice many people will curse or wiggle something to get their mind off the pain.

It seems we do it automatically like it helps us relieve our pain. It does sound kind of true. Like we are using the brain to focus on doing something else while recover from the injury.

Kind of like distracting children with something for a needle shot.

both. And if friends are around me, I brush it off like it didn't hurt at all. ha

haha, usually with finger and toes its a quick impulse to swear. I wonder why its such a universally natural reaction? I close the car door on my hand over a week ago, did usual swearing. Then all the pain afterward until now, just face grimacing and feel mad that I did it.

One of my friends smashed her thumb in the car door and broke it. I wasn't there when it happened but I can imagine she said a few choice words, LOL.
