Bay Area California here.

No Kidding about California... too pricey here, but if you find roommate and have stable financial, you'd be fine. It's tough to live alone in California with not enough finanicals.
Not in San Joaquin Valley, they are cheapest places to live. Plus there is alot hidden places in Ca where the price are so cheap.

I'm thinking of moving to CA at least for a year and see if I like it there. :eek3:

I was wondering how many ADers are from California and which part?
I live in north of LA county. Just got back from riding in the desert up in little north of here. I love up there sooo quiet and beautiful.

One thing I love about Calif, it has everything other states do not have.

Ur kidding me, u used to live in Lancaster? wow I live not too far from there. But it is not same as it was 25 year ago when we first moved here.
I'm sure it has changed much and grown. :)

I lived there 1958-60. We lived on J-12 and I can't remember the other street (I'd have to look it up). I attended Joshua Elementary School. My dad worked for Lockheed at Edwards Air Force Base.

We went to Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, the Indian Museum, and Red Rock Canyon.

We had desert right behind our back "yard" (all sand). It was full of Joshua trees, tumbleweeds, and gophers.

I doubt Alex wants to live out in middle of nowhere. I believe he's a city boy than a country or rural town boy. Bakersfield is one of the cheapest to live big city in the state and people commute 2 and half hours to Los Angeles to work, many of them do.

Duh! Mountains do have snow!!! About 2 to 3 hrs from LA. Also Go up to Sequoias area, Sierra area, Lake Tahoe, etc and plus northern CA near Oregon does have snow. If you miss it, just take a train or bus to take you there. :)

I do not like snow, period! Too damn cold! BRR!
No I mean, when I was at CSUN for 2 years... and I haven't seen any snow.

I wish California has snow.

also more rain.... to clean up
street and everything.

About California

It's very expensively, my fiance is from California, I don't see any greens in California unless if you live further north of California, southern of California is pretty less green and dry almost like a desert, cuz it's the west side more dryer less green than the east side. My sister's boyfriend is also from California lives in a desert south in Orange County, he has no greens in his yard but rocks, little bushes, this reminded me of Las Vegas where I used to live, it's very ugly all I can say. Also there's earthquake and fires going on in California, Yikes and so I feels alots better being back in the east and see tons of greens with such a relief.

I'm thinking somewhere in Orange County. I've checked apartments for rent at CL and the rates seem reasonable. Anyone been to Huntington Beach before? Thoughts? See this link: orange county apts/housing for rent classifieds - craigslist

There's no particular reason for me moving there. I just want to live there for a while for experience. NJ will always be my favorite state no matter what, though. ;)

I don't need to find a job when I move over there because I work online 99% of the time.

Yes California got amusements... but it seems like hours to get there.

Burbank and Los Angeles are far away from each other.

When my mom, I, and my nephew went to Knotts Berry Farm,
and we had to ride a bus... the bus took us to Universal Studios, it
was a long long long ride.

So I rather stay in Mississippi, I can just drive up to St. Louis or Atlanta
for Six Flags... and then go Tunica for casino, and then go Orlando
for Disney World.

When I was at CSUN, one thing I missed the most, is SNOW.
I love to see snow on the ground.

You are misleading about California bec you never get your facts right. You are not even from California so that should tell everyone about you, that you don't know anything about the lifestyle just bec you lived here for a short time doesn't mean squat. If you lived here for many years that is different obviously you didn't live here for over 3 years.

Orange County is nice city to live in! If I every fly out there, I'll be sure to meet you!! :thumb: We will probably go to Disneyland and California Adventure on our next trip. And there are a lot of events so you probably will enjoy it! :) Also there are a lot of beaches! I have been to Huntington Beach but not well know that area very well. I got lost one time there!

I do not live But

I was lived in north California *Lodi, Ca for 3 years and love it! Someday I will be moving to back live in California anyway.

**I notice that South California have lots of deaf events more than North California. But...

**My view about social people that North Californian seem open to anyone. South Californian have social groups? anyway

**North California have been most of "green" trees and grass as much than south.. South with many plum (sp) trees

**Always busy planning! ... Than here NE :bored:

Go for it :thumb:

One thing..... Must have a job first before move ok ;) Because I knew that some people went to California and end up to back home due no job!;)

Good Luck!:):):)

My wife did go to Huntington Beach long time ago and Good Luck with your moving there sometimes there's worst smog in L.A. areas....

I live in southern CA about 40 minutes north of Huntinton Beach. Southern CA is very expensive. In the city I live in a very small 3 bed 1 ba house rents for $2100.00. Orange County is so much more expensive. For a one bed apt in Huntington Beach it will cost you at least $1500.00. We use to live in Costa Mesa which is in Orange County, we were buying a condo when we sold the condo we were able to buy a house for the same price in San Gabriel Valley.
Besides the price it is great place to live especially if you are a beach person. Huntington Beach is a great city, it is one of my favorite beaches. It is just amazing sitting there on the sand watching the waves come in. The other thing too is that we have everything. It is hot out here but if you live close to beach you will be fine. Many times it is hot enough during the Christmas season to go to the beach and get in the water no where else in the US can you do this.
If you are looking for a more reasonable price city look into the Inland Empire. You can find a 1 bed apt for $600.00

What kind of work online do you do ? I hope you don't mind me askin'. :fingersx:

I vote yes.. I live in Santa Rosa, Ca. for so many years.... (bored already)

Yeah... smog is awful

My sinus turned green... I had sinus infection.

It snoozed out of my nose while I am sleep at night.

I woke up with green booger all over my nose, making my nose sore.

That was in 2002 when I was at CSUN.

Then I went back to California for my cousin's funeral in 2004,
I had worst cough and sore throat... I was violently coughing
all night and all day for 2 weeks. I couldn't talk at all.

My Uncle gave me castor oil... and it helped soothe my throat a lot.

I think it is cool to live in New Jersey, that is where Mariah Carey is
from. Close by New York City... I would love to tour around NYC
someday. Maybe I'll go there for New Year Eve firework. I would love that.

But why do people live in New York City or California for?

Do people want to live near Actors and Actresses in California and NYC?

Why they get so much ego about California or NYC, like it is so cool...
why so much pride?

Yes I said "Why".
