Good arguments, Cheri.

I try hard not to entangle myself in theological “argument,” because too many people don’t realize that argument does not mean to bicker. True argument is logical discussion, and discussing faith and beliefs often descends into the many traps of false argument.

This poll does the same thing. To understand the reaction of who made the thread, a person has to understand the roots of the terms.

Very simply, an agnostic is one against gnostism, the special spiritual knowledge of the faithful. An agnostic insists the human mind is incapable of knowing a god or anything else beyond the material. They admit a god, spirits, or afterlife may exist, but that humans cannot have certain knowledge of them.

An atheist is one against any religion. They insist no god or spiritual design of the universe is possible.

The point is the prefix. The “a” means against gnostics and theists. By nature, they are opposed to beliefs and feel the need to be vocal about it, to challenge spiritual beliefs and organizations at every opportunity.

Of course there are those of faith who loudly proclaim it, but most believers don’t proselytize. Beliefs are also splintered. For those reasons, many agnostics and atheist think they are the majority. I think the intent here was to crush beliefs by sheer numbers, and when it didn’t happen, the originator felt the need to rally support.

If I’m booted from AD for this observation, so be it. I'll do my time in exile and make watever apologies are needed to crawl back. But I’m reminded of my granddad’s observation: “Never wrestle with pigs. You’ll only end up as dirty, and the pigs like it.”

That's me to the letter. Now, pig who? Not I right Chase?

It's an analogy. You'll have to wrestle someone else.

Excellent observations!

Thanks for giving clear definition to the "a" words. :ty:

Why, Thank you. :P

Let me make one thing perfectly clear: This thread is not about debate it's about acknowledgment. When I post, all I am doing is expressing my angle. I am not attempting to bring anybody down or trying to harm another's faith. If I am asked a question I will answer it my way and such a response should not be taken as an assault on another member of this forum.

Excuse me but I am not the way you think I am. I know that your faith is not mine to test. You may not agree, but I only have good intension. Let's be friends Aleser. Enough of the misjudgments and accusations. They do no one any good. Agree?

Nodding, Good posting. :)

 I know that JW don´t have other God. It must be misunderstanding... I know they beleive in God´s name is Jehovah and has a Son named Jesus.

They said God had another name, Jehovah. I had to say no to that. Because there is no other God or names for God. That is what I believe.

Ah been thre many time with that situations. That why I kick their putty duddy butt out of my home. Many of them keep coming around. So, the only thing I do is ingore them and not answer the door and they will walk away. If they don't do that, then I can called the police for harrassment. I just glad they haven't be around to bother me so far. Whew!

It is a big problem here. But I always check who is at the door first. If it is them from any church group. Let them knock. I ain't answering anymore because what happened the last time ten years ago. Two guys asked me if we were baptied. I asked why he wanna know. He said if you are not, you cannot go to Heaven. So I had to put a test to this and asked them, for an example if my sister was never baptied, she is in Hell right? He said yep. That really pissed me off. I disagree. If a newborn child or any child or even any adult were too late and had no idea of baptist, they do not go to hell. My sister was dying, we had a paster to baptist her (she was brain dead when a pastor came). I do believe she is in Heaven. They are all full of it. I hate it when they kept changing the Bibles.

Huh? So you re saying you believe in God, Jesus' resurrection, and Jesus is Son of God BUT you are not christian, baptist, catholic? hmm..

Nonsense. JW believe the same God that can be found in Christian, Baptist, Brothers, Cult, Wacko, Angry White Man, Catholic, Jesus Club, etc..

Yes I do, I do have Faith in God. I cannot name my reglious here, I am sorry to avoid any conflicts, remember?

There´re different stories in different Bible. It´s people´s decision to choose to beleive in.

Yes. But they kept making new bible in their own words. That really bothers me and unacceptable. I only keep my Bible givien from my father even if it is very old, torn or bend-I keep it forever, and refused to buy any other Bible. We were not that rich to buy brand new Bible. If the people at the door wants to give away the Bible free, I say no to that because it is not the same as mine in my hand.

Of course, I do believe in God. He is my Sovereign God than any other gods. He's also my King, the Saviour who will always win at the end, because of the Word He shall speak to cut one soul in half to reveal who the person really is. Nothing will surprise Him. :)

Yes, I agree with you, It's fine for a person to believe in GOD is good enough, no one should be force or push, lecture into following their religions or any other religions. it up to the person to choose what religions he or she wants. There are way too many "religious frantics" goes overboard with their lecturing me about GOD and priesting me. I means it okay to talk about GOD, but it not okay for some people like christians, catholics or mormons past judgments on who is right or wrong in what in the bibles or how they view it. Best thing is leave them alone and let them live their life they way they see fit on how they view GOD and religions. Each religions of any kinds should be respected without war on religions or GOD. :)

It's the same for you people who mocks our God, use their negative logic about our God, If you want respect, Respect is given when it's received.

Let's not forget that, it's time to stop playing the "victim" :ty:

Aleser, you got figured wrong.

No, she doesn't have it wrong. This is supposed to be a poll and nothing more; no attempting to try and influence choices in a poll. So at this point, it is a sham.

I agree. I only state what I believe whether a person like it or not. We shouldn't be forced what to believe. We will find the truth in end of our days, shall we?

{Mod Edit: Previous quote had been removed--~RR}

I respect believers or non-believers in any religious or none at all. We cannot blame non-believers. They cannot help themselves being unsure or not wanting to believe. They all do have their reasons. There are some do never know that the Bibles do exists. Will God disown them. No, he will not disown non-believers unless a person do say I hate you God, I do not believe in God, I do not want to go to Heaven. God will be sad of course and had to let that person go and let person choose at the end of that person's day whether that person choose Heaven or hell. If that person had no idea who God is, or knew there is a God. That is another story but you cannot say they will go to Hell.

Life doesn't stand still. Life is about making any choices. Making the right choices prevent us pains and heartaches.
