When after along delay I got my new aids on friday Destiny Digital BTEs and I don't know what to think of them.I have worn aids all of my life but these aids are so strange to me. I think I can get use to them. Does anyone have digital aids? what do you think of them? I am so use to the other kind of BTEs.

I have digital BTE's.

I've noticed that sound is a clearer as well as "crispier". I've enjoyed the ones I have and always looked forward to the evening hours as I can take them out to give my ears a break. :giggle:

Not too long ago I had to take my digital HA to the shop. They did not have any loaners available so I took my old aids out and

Heck no!! They drove me nuts! I could not wait to get the digital one back.

It will take time to notice the difference but to me it truely does have a difference

Did you have the Analog before the digital?

In my experience, I did not like wearing digital aids. To me, they sounded weak, distorted and made speech more difficult to understand. However, they were excellent for hearing environmental sounds. To be fair, I wore analog hearing aids for 9 years prior to wearing digitals, so that may have contributed to the fact that digitals didn't work out for me. I also had an audi at the time who I don't think was capable of programming my digital aids correctly.

I know I will have to get use to them they are so weird to me.I have three setting and I am having trouble making up my mind but yet again I only had them for a couple of days.

1. normal (microphone changes on its own)

2.normal (picks up all around me)

3.normal (picks up in front of me)

I was not crazy about them. I got to try them out and they kept making me feel like my ears were plugged up or something. When I ran the vacumm they suddenly when low. I don't like that. I want to be the one to decide what to focus on, not my hearing aid! I was trying the Sumo Digital aids by the way. :)

I have digital aids by Siemens. I like the different programs. It seems to me like there are less big crackle noises. (Could be that because:hmm: I got more deaf and it has nothing to do with the digital. Not sure.):hmm:

I think you will just have to work at getting used to it and everything will be ok.

Did you know the Oticon Sumo can be programmed as an analog aid? If you don't want the Sumo to select what you hear and don't hear, this particular feature can be turned off.

Yes, my audi told me that, but I am already wearing the Sumo XPs. Since the DMs didn't give me more than 15% more hearing and I didn't like the noise reduction feature that I should stick to my XPs for a little bit longer.

I can understand why you don't like the noise reduction feature. When I used to wear my Oticon DigiFocus IIs, I didn't like the noise compression, so I had it turned off.

Not to get off the topic of your adjustment, Pepsi, but I see that the destiny has several color choices including "iced purple."

What color did you get?

I feel the same way,I feel like I don't have any control over my aids.

Yep they do at least I won't worry about them matching my earrings :laugh2:

:laugh2:

You know I got green earmolds, right? On last Saturday we went out to lunch with my husbands parents, and a woman started admiring them, and I don't know what she thought they were. When my daughter managed to explain that it was part of my hearing aids the woman took off. She looked really embarrassed!

Meanly, I guess, my whole family really laughed.:D

Pepsi,

I received digital bte's in 2005 on the advice from my audiologist to "come into the 21st century technology." So, I did. It did take a few weeks to get used to them, though. Basically, I hate the "in the box" sound, so they've been tweeked a few times.
