Not for political debate (no candidate names mentioned).

Just asking if you voted in the 2016 elections, either today, or by early voting, or by absentee voting.

Did you have to wait in a long line?

Did anything funny or weird happen at your polling place?

I voted this morning. It took about 30 minutes total. The weather was beautiful so it wasn't bad waiting.

The old lady who checks us in at the polling place always has to make some comment to me (I don't know why). At last year's primary, we had to show a picture ID in addition to our voter card. There are five different choices of card we can use. Since my military ID card is easier for me to pull out of my wallet than my driver's license (because of my Parkinson's) I chose to use it. She said to me, "Next time the police pull you over and ask for your driver's license you'll be in trouble." (Mind you, at 65 years old I've never been pulled over by the police, and I hardly drive now, so I don't expect that to happen. )

This year, I again used my military ID card. This time she said, "We can only scan driver's licenses." (She had to look at my ID with her eyeballs--too bad!) Then she asked me, "How do you pronounce your last name." So I told her. The weird thing is, my last name is a simple, one-syllable English name, very common, like Smith or Jones. What is with that woman?

What does the way you your pronounce your last name have to with voting ??
Massachusetts had early voting for the first time so I decided to take advantage of it and voted early at my city hall , the woman didn't know me so I asked her if she wanted
to see my driver's license and she didn't . I guess your woman is good for a few laughs and we sure can use it this election .

I voted , there was people there . I didn't have a long wait maybe , 10 mins tops . Nothing weird happened like protest etc..

Hub and I <hub was off work> purposely waited til about 10:30 <Central time> to vote, but his section <lines based on last names> still had quite a line. Cars were parked on the road, which was the first time I'd seen that. There was a line to put your ballot in the machine. Many people were coming to register. In the early news this morning, it was showing lines out the door at many locations. We live in a rural area; they didn't show our polling place. So I did have to wait for him after I was done. Nothing different or funny happened though. My parents did the early voting.

Yep, I voted. Like some of you, I am also in a small town. I waited until ~1pm just to be sure there would be any lines...of course so far here a line has only been about 3 or 4 people. No waiting and the usually friendly group of volunteers running the station.

They were all of out cookies though which was a bummer. The lady who bakes them for us makes awesome chocolate chip cookies.

Wow-cookies! That's an interesting touch...is it a -very-small town? I grew up in a major urban area so that would be a different experience for me for sure!

You can buy cookies and bake goods at the church I vote at , the chocolate chips cookies they have are yummy. Now I want one ! LOL!

Yes, I did go and vote at about 6:30am. Wasted about 5-10 minutes because I was at the wrong precinct table! My bad! No, ID of any kind needed, just name. And address so they could point me to the proper precinct table. :)

A bake sale at a polling place--what a neat idea! Yum!

Yes, I voted it today and there were long line but nice sheriff deputy let me go to table due to disability, however tables got mixed up so badly.

All of parking lots are full and we voted at National Guard Armory, so we had to park on grass.

Yep, voted, no line, in and out in less than 5 minutes. Now it's off to Krispy Kreme for my free donut!

I believe in my state that if you're in line at 8 pm you get to vote.

I got in line one minute before the doors open. Total time 20 mins. If my last name had been in the 1st half of the alphabet, it would have taken less time.

I informed one of the volunteers that she should pencil in the new name of my apt complex next to the old name they displayed on the sign (I voted at at dual polling place). She thanked me for letting her know the apt complex had changed names earlier this year.
