Deafhood

Well I certainly didn't.... So not all. I am sure there are others too. If I wanted help with understanding my deaf journey I certainly wouldn't ask a hearie....

then by your logic - many people with problems shouldn't be seeing a therapist since they never experienced same traumatic experience....

I should stop contributing to AD? Are you saying that?
Interesting case of a straw man fallacy:

Fallacy: Straw Man
The Straw Man fallacy is committed when a person simply ignores a person's actual position and substitutes a distorted, exaggerated or misrepresented version of that position. This sort of "reasoning" has the following pattern:

Person A has position X.
Person B presents position Y (which is a distorted version of X).
Person B attacks position Y.
Therefore X is false/incorrectflawed.
1. The position of PFH is that the posts from Kokonut are pointless.

2. The position of Kokonut is that PFH want Kokonut to stop write posts(which is a distorted version of the position of PFH).

3. Kokonut attacks the position that says Kokonut should stop writing posts on AD.

4. Now, Kokonut have made the position of PFH false and flawed. Notice that he did it by actually never attack the orginal claim from PFH, but a disorted claim.

Classic straw man. GrendelQ does this a lot, too.

Oh, do you see your deaf journey as a disorder in need of therapy.... Especially unsolicited therapy?

Fine but I say my journey is unique. Think of it as a thumbprint. It's unique but they all may seem identical but when you look at it closely it is definitely unique. Your journey is unique.

Oh, get over it. I see that you have issues with the words that we use.

Txgolfer...that wasn't what Jiro meant. Therapy isn't a bad thing! I know certain people would benefit from exploring their resistant behavior... :giggle:

Good. I stand by what I said then.... I don't think anyone asked to be observed or helped with their deafhood identity.

As for Jiro's question. Sure a therapist can help with disorders that they haven't experienced. I would sure want to see credentials first though before I accepted advice from one.

1. The position of PFH is that the posts from Kokonut are pointless.
That's his opinion. I could ask the same question, too, but I don't. After all, this is a forum.

2. The position of Kokonut is that PFH want Kokonut to stop write posts(which is a distorted version of the position of PFH).
No, which is why I asked that question.

3. Kokonut attacks the position that says Kokonut should stop writing posts on AD.
Not an attack. Interesting way of putting that when all it was to ask a question because I wasn't sure of his intent in his questioning. Now that he made it clear, sure, I understand. *shrugs*4.

Now, Kokonut have made the position of PFH false and flawed. Notice that he did it by actually never attack the orginal claim from PFH, but a disorted claim.
Hence, my asking the question for clarification.

No straw man, PFH never stated his position in the first place. It was after the fact.

....

I find Jillio a very invaluable resource- it is nice to have someone, deaf or hearing, to challenge your thoughts and feelings.

Besides, you dont need a DISORDER to see a therapist. I don't feel Jillio is acting as a therapist in here. She is just jillio in here.

I believe jiro was saying therapist in general..... That is how I was responding.

You repeately asked PFH if you should stop writing posts, after PFH questioned the point of your posts.

You demanded a yes or no question from a specific disorted perspective that would render the position of PFH flawed. Your solution to the position of PFH, is to stop writing posts, even if it's other solutions, like writing posts that makes sense to PFH. PFH suggested you to stop contributing to this thread after you hinted the choice is to either accept posts from you that are pointless to PFH, or that you'll stop contributing in this thread/AD.

After that answer, you made a final postion, that you have the right to express yourself, as if PFH tries discourage you from expressing yourself. But that was not the postition of PFH in the beginning, that you shouldn't be allowed to express yourself. The position was that your posts are pointless.

So yeah, it's a straw man, as you ended up attacking a disorted version of the original position of PFH.
