Damn you George W. Bush and the Wall Street fatcats

Hold your horse!

I think that it has to do with China's massive products that we have in the U.S.A. We need to change is to do by making our products that made in U.S.A. That's why George Bush's idea to get the products from China, and it was his biggest mistake in the history. That's why we need to boost up our American products to help us to survive our living and business. In fact, Bush's old times that he failed his own several businesses far before he became the governor of Texas.

I do not believe that we can control our government. LinuxGold said that we can do it, then how will you do it?

We also should reduce the tax on import in our country from Europe. And we also should increase the export to China and Mexico. It's because most of our cars are made in Mexico. I am sorry for Mexicans, but they should start the war in their own country to restore the democracy.

sablescort - I am sorry that you are so pissed off that you worked for the company for a long time. It is totally unfair.

How are people at fault? Many people didnt predict that they were going to lose their jobs or businesses when they purchased their homes, vehicles and etc. My dad sure didnt predict that his business that he owned for 35 years was going to fold completely and lose $300,000 last year. Now, he is about to lose his house. I am sorry but he is not at fault for it and I am sure many others feel the same way.Who can predict the future?

You're right, your Dad couldn't predict his company would close (and, sorry about his house.) All I've (and a few others in this thread) are saying is we can't blame it all on the government. We as individuals have to take responsibility for our own financial management. We should be saving money from every paycheck to fall back in the event of a disaster - whether it be a company closes, someone gets laid off, a house burns down, a major car accident, whatever. And before people start saying "wait, I didn't know I was going to get laid off", it doesn't matter, we should have already taken responsibility to have at least some money to fall back on so we don't lose autos, houses, get taken to court over unpaid bills, etc. And if people start saying "well, I couldn't save because all my money goes to pay my house and bills", at that point people need to think about not buying a house they can't afford if they have nothing leftover (regardless of what their bank tells them they qualify for), or buying a $35,000 vehicle if that means they have nothing left over for savings when a $20,000 car would have sufficed. And so on .. and on .. Many of us have failed to take responsibility for managing our own money and save for when bad things happen, and that is NOT the fault of the government.

:gpost::gpost::gpost: absolutely! I do not blame government at all. It's called Personal Responsibility. The government did not make you go broke. The government did not tell you to spend on everything. Only you are the one with money and only you are in control of your own money. Many people did not save..... and make careful financial decisions.... therefore going broke.

It's always a rule of thumb to calculate your own risk and put your money in saving account that's enough to pay for expenses/bills for x number of months while unemployed. I'm saving money enough for about 6 months.... cuz of loans.

Sablescort, I would like to share somethin' with you. I think it would be best if, you don't mind goin' to Barnes & Noble store and find the book that's called, " Fleeced " - the authors are : Dick Morris & Eileen McGann. In the back of its cover inside the book, it says that Dick Morris served as Bill Clinton's political consultant for 20 years. And Eileen is an attorney and consultant, works with Dick on campaigns around the world. Maybe, it can help you to protect yourself from losin' important things such as job, house, and etc., etc.

I've read this book and it's an eye openin' book. Hope the book helps some in your situation to understand what's happenin' behind all this.

Hang in there!

They gotta live with what they have done to our dear country. The Republicans have reaped the whirlwinds that they have sown.

Yeah, right! - those fat cats are gonna sit in their nice warm cozy mansions by living it by; drinking the finest booze, eating the finest meals, and most of the rest of the finest stuff - and, oh yeah - count thier millions tongiht

What are you doing?

Yeah - they'll live w/ it alright - and laugh at us poor folk, while doing it!

I looked up this book on Amazon website. It looks good information, and it has 4 1/2 stars which is good. I'll read the book if my library has one.
Thank you, Maria.

You're welcome. :)

like I said - politicians are corrupted. they (conservative, liberal, republican, democrat, etc.) profit from uninformed/uneducated people. so please educate yourself on the very fundamental basic thing about money - you will not be screwed. :cool2:

What would you like to tell us about how we should not screw up our money? (Most schools never teach students to learn about money issues especially they need to secure their money in the future.)

Does our government rather people to screw up their financial? In the old days, IRS sent some people in a prison for their errors on the paperwork. Now, IRS won't hurt people, and all they do is to pay the big fines, etc.

Or you'll end up like the investors of Bernie Madoff!

SCREWED!

well I already explained why it isn't entirely government's fault for our demise. People take loans out for cars, real estates, etc. Government did not make people borrow money. Deregulated or regulated, it is still people's responsibility to know what they're getting into. Just because the government made it easier doesn't mean you can go out and spend spend spend.

and well - our parents did not learn money issues from their schools either. You should not be spoon-fed on everything. There are some things you have to do for yourself.

I read a book from the 1960s about wasteful consuming like buying a new car each year or two just to have the latest when the old one is fine and using too much credit to spend money you don't have. I also thought it was funny that they'd inflate home prices way beyond what it cost for the nails, pipes, wires, 2x4s and labor. Now we see what happened.

There's also another book that I've just started reading that I learned about at RIT: Affluenza, from this decade about the same thing.

Wow, that is very good information about the Affluenza. Who is the author of this book?

That is exactly the reason I have turned down many credit card offers. I'm already in Debt with my home and with rising taxes and insurances. Unbelievable how the credit card companies keeps sending me offers to give, give, give, me credit!

exactly! personal responsibility! you were not "oooooooo wwwoooowww" with its gimmicks - "0% FOR 1 YEAR!!! LOW INTEREST RATE!!!"

but that is a good point you brought up. I think they have been far too aggressive this year than ever. I've been receiving at least 5 credit card offers per week.

Someone always have to have someone to blame.

It did not take one person to disrupt the economy. So you can Blame Bush or whomever you want. But since it is easier for people to do so. That is what they do. Blame ONE single person

I used to have 40 credit cards but now, I only have 4 credit cards, which is enough for me. (I have a American Express card. I must pay them in full. That's why I don't have any debts!!!)

Sablescort.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your job.

regardless of my opinion of whom to blame for it.
