Damn you George W. Bush and the Wall Street fatcats

First, I'm sorry you got laid off, Sable. Especially so close to Christmas. :(

I do have to agree with much of what Pek said, though. I do blame major corporations, banks, automakers, etc., for the bad decisions they've made. Yet, we as consumers, have made bad decisions of our own. Who forced a pen in our hand and had us sign a credit card application or a new mortgage on a house many of us could not well afford? Each of us is responsible in some way for whatever financial state we're in, whether it's that we're well-off, or broke.

Lastly, it is not a war in Iraq. It is a war on terror. We just happen to be in Iraq at the moment. We are trying to make America and the rest of the world a safe place to be, and that's by eliminating terrorists. Turn on your TV to any news station such as CNN and you will see they say the same.

I am sorry to hear about your situation, sablescort. :(

pek1- let's not butt in on sablescort's ranting thread.

thank you very much for being on my side for going on my right to rant.

Republicans deserve my scorn for the current situation that we are in. That includes Dumbya W. Bush too. They gotta live with what they have done to our dear country. The Republicans have reaped the whirlwinds that they have sown.

Thank you Mrs Bucket. you do deserve a Medal for Freedom to defend someone's right to speeak up.

BIG HUGS!

I can truly relate with you.

*Throws his size 13 shoes at Bush while screaming "You murderous dog!"*

;)

i still never understand why Americans vote Bush for what? fall in love with his mouth to convince us to vote him OR just for war? Dumbass Bush.

Im sorry about your situation and i hope you able to return to work since youre in seniority. It should bring you back. Jeez.

Hey Dude, i agree with you about "DUMBASS BUSH" :laugh2: and actually the Great Depression hits in 1929 and The Stock Market crashed on October 29, 1929. This day is known as "Black Tuesday."

We can not only BLAME it on George Bush, but to our Government in GENERAL including OURSELVES. We, as a Citizen of United States, have the RESPONSIBILITY to LIMIT Government's power.

Back in the old days, our forefathers warned us that we SHOULD not make Government a PROVIDER (one that supplies the money to us for whatever reason) but rather to be a POLICYMAKER (to make rules ONLY).

George Bush got the blame because he is the President DURING the economy downfall, it doesn't mean it is ENTIRELY his problem ALONE. Like a domino effect, a block falling on others, Bush is just one of the bigger block that fell at the end.

President Thomas Jefferson said:
"We must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt.
We must make our election between economy and liberty
or profusion and servitude.
If we run into such debt, as that we must be taxed in our meat and
in our drink, in our necessaries and our comforts, in our labors and
our amusements, for our calling and our creeds...
[we will] have no time to think,
no means of calling our miss-managers to account
but be glad to obtain subsistence by hiring ourselves
to rivet their chains on the necks of our fellow-sufferers...
And this is the tendency of all human governments.
A departure from principle in one instance
becomes a precedent for [another ]...
till the bulk of society is reduced to be mere automatons of misery...
And the fore-horse of this frightful team is public debt.
Taxation follows that, and in its train wretchedness and oppression."

I'm sorry that you got laid off just close before Christmas, sablescort --that really sucks, I feel your pains. :(

i am sorry sablescort about you laid off hugs i do feel your pains since u works there for so long.

Sablescort, I am sorry to hear that you have been though, hope the best will come at the end for you.

Linuxgold and Pek1 I had to agree with both you. The mess we are in right now all started from 80's where (I am not sure which president, and congress) had relaxing the credit regulations making it easier for anyone to get into deep debt, that is the beginning of the mess, then during Clinton ERA, he thinks that everybody should have equal opportunity to owning homes, thus relaxing the mortgage regulations, then bankruptcies started to rise during Bush Era, so Bush administration and congress decided to beef up tighter the bankruptcy regulation to protect fatcat creditors. This turns into "Perfect storm" for today's economy. In other words, with easy credit, easy mortgages all equals to what? enormous debts to the point that the debtors can't afford pay back, whammy there goes rising oil prices and mortgage interest being reset to the point that they can't pay back and because of stricter bankruptcy law, got into deeper S**T and in the end no money left, that affects the REST of us. America is truly F**K*D UP and will take years to recover. Even worse, many of them who faced higher gas price decided to borrow even more money to replace gas guzzler vehicle with gas sipper vehicles in hope to maintain affordability transportation to work to get more money. Unfortunately this worsen the financial outlook. Bush's fault? I don't think so... It is whole government system that gave too much favors for fatcats leaving almost nothing for average customers like the rest of us.

Finally back to my old point, ANY presidents can't control the prices, it is ***US*** the customers that CAN, and current event already proved my point... Oil prices had dropped big time... how did that happen? That is because most customers like us have run out of money and can't afford buy more oil resulting sharp decrease on oil prices.

I rest my case.

Sablescort, do not give up the hopes. I believe we CAN recover, only time will tell. And I truly believe there will always door open for you for much better job than what you have lost.

Sorry to hear of your troubles, Sablescort. I agree with you, screw Bush. Of course he knew what he was doing during his eight years. I won't join the others here in dancing and singing with them that it is all our faults, with windows opening and shutting in time to whimsical music. It is going to get worse, and I refuse to blame myself for that. I hope you have additional means of making a living, just in case.

None of us said it was all our fault. We do have to accept SOME of the blame in making poor financial decisions for ourselves. I wasn't referring to Sable's layoff, but just in general. If you think everything that has gone wrong with our mortgages and credit and auto loans is completely the fault of everyone else (including Bush,) then you are deluding yourself. Even Obama, for all that I am hopeful for what he may accomplish, will not be able to turn around the economy overnight. It will take time, both on the behalf of corporate America AND on behalf of us, as consumers, to make things better. Are you going to blame Obama for however long that may take? That makes it no better than blaming Bush.

Right on, Bush never understand the economy, and most of it Bush created it gonna take decades to pay it all back, Thanks to those Americans who voted for him, they're much of a blame as Bush is. :)

I understand what you are trying to say, but at least you didn't try to give a detailed analysis of the problem. ;) Many of us have seen this coming for years and have taken steps for it. Income tax? I haven't paid income tax for years. Why should I? Guess where it goes?

Anyone can turn the TV on to CNN or FOX or look online for everything going on in America. And, you said, "Many of us have seen this coming for years and have taken steps for it." Really? Then how come so many people have lost their houses (foreclosures), filed bankruptcy, are complaining about being laid off, and so on? If you want to say that many of us have planned for this, then post a link to that somewhere.

And .. income taxes .. you said "you haven't paid it for years." That's not something I would've posted online. That's not only NOT smart, it's illegal. As an American, it is NOT a choice, whether we like it or not.

Just my 2 cents.
