Court of public opinion looms large in George Zimmerman murder trial

Good point. I guess it would depend on how Martin grasped Zimmerman's head. Did Zimmerman describe how that was? He didn't have much hair, so I don't think he was grabbed that way. Was he slammed by the shoulders? Or did the back of his head hit the pavement when he was punched in the face? :dunno:

I don't know much about fist fighting or MMA fighting. Probably the women jurors don't either. Maybe one of the lawyers can present an animation to show what happened. I would like to get a better idea of the altercation itself.
it's not just the hair. it's the skin and fluid. human is constantly shedding skin every second. that's how a sniffing dog can easily find'em.

plus - Zimmerman testified that Trayvon covered his mouth to prevent him from screaming.

Zimmerman testified that Martin was slamming his head against concrete repeatedly.

That is right and you would think there would be DNA from Zimmerman under Martin fingernails if he smashed Zimmerman 's head repeatedly . Zimmerman could fallen on the concrete as the cuts where not deep at all and did not need be to sewed up. There was case that happen a in town not far me and a guy head was smashed on the sidewalk and the guy was badly hurt and in the hospital was head trauma.

nope. it would be a sign of PHYSICAL ALTERCATION - either offensive or defense. I dunno about you but with Zimmerman's "bloody" injuries plus his testimony that Trayvon was slamming his head repeatedly against concrete... there's not a tiny trace of Zimmerman's DNA was found under Trayvon's fingernails?

fishy.

Not fishy in the least. DNA evidence from fingernails is associated with defensive tactics. Not too many attackers scratch ad tickle.

that would be incorrect. in any case of physical altercation - people are grabbing something.

You must be thinking of "defensive wound".... not defensive tactic.

Nope. Scratching or claw is generally considered a defensive tactic.....at least for humans. :giggle: Not exclusively of course.

:laugh2: An ME is going to say you can smash someone's head into the ground by scratching them? Now that is funny.

scratch? it's not necessarily only from scratching. it can be from holding.

These two cases illustrate the sensitivity of current DNA technology and the value of undertaking DNA analysis of material beneath fingernails, regardless of individuals’ hands being submerged in water. These findings further support the findings of Lederer et al.[10], who obtained a victim’s DNA profile from under a suspect’s fingernails, despite multiple washings and a 2-day time delay prior to sampling.

It has been suggested that fingernail debris has minimal evidential value and should not be routinely submitted for DNA analysis in forensic casework [11,12]. The results of DNA analysis of the fingernail debris in these two cases indicate the value of routinely collecting and analysing fingernail debris for those cases where an individual has likely been scratched.

Given that in cases of homicide the actions of the deceased during the incident are usually not fully known we recommend the mandatory collection of fingernails from all deceased, regardless of the scenes that they are found in, including submersion in water.

sorry TXGolfer.... your credibility is now blown out of window.... :(

tell me to see Post #428? oh that's just LOL. Perhaps I shouldn't interrupt you as you're in process of destroying yourself.

Yes post #428 is funny. That is where I said to another poster that you don't slam someone's head to the ground by scratching them and then you claimed an ME would disagree with that.

that's not what I said.
