Confession Time :)

The car I first learned to drive was a Ford Falcon. It had automatic transmission, of course. It was a fun little car, cherry red.
It makes me sweat to think of the time I floored the gas pedal and drove down the highway at 110 miles an hour while it was raining. Eeek.

As a kid I learned about stick shifts on John Deere tractors (and not the lawn type). When I was 18 bought my first new car. 1971 Ford Pinto with stick. I used to drive off the raised edge of steep freeway exit ramps, go airborne, hit the down ramp, pull the emergency brake handle between the seats and stop so fast it would make you lightheaded. My passenger would usually go weightless and hit his head if the seat belt was not tight. Ahaaaaaa!

Later, I broke off the shifter and the service manager at the Ford dealership said it was impossible to do. Proved him wrong!

The year prior, I was asked to drive my friend's 1969 Plymouth GTX 440 4-speed at the strip. After the front wheels came back down, it went 144 mph in the 1/4 mile. My friend built it but was afraid to drive it hard.

But to be fair, automatics are better in the Michigan snow for 360's! :laugh2:

Yea I know how you feel, I have fallen to my temptations also this weekend.

To be honest, it's actually kind of depressing because, it's just not a super happy occasion, but not a sad one either. It's just likened to drinking beer alone in your dark living room watching TV. I've debated on whether to finish the thing or to pour it out knowing the more I drink, the more I want. I don't want to go down that road again of alcoholism. It's just not where I want to be. Of all people to give me the beer is my father. Appearently he doesn't like this beer but he knows I do so there is a whole case of it down stairs in the fridge now. If I'm not careful I can have it downed in a single sitting.

Right now, it's just the one bottle on my nightstand in my bedroom.

Question: Reba approves of all this?!

I am thinking this was BEFORE Reba!

Ford Falcon, huh? My girlfriend drove one of those about 20 years ago. She got it from her grandmother. You know, the little old lady that drove it to church. We got a lot of attention while we were in that car. Good times.

I had a 62 Falcon station wagon when I was younger. It was an antique at that time. I had an ambition to restore it, but never got enough money and eventually sold it off.

My old roommate wanted a convertible.

I wanted to learn how to drive stick shift.

So even though we already had our own cars, we decided to buy a really cheap Mazda Miata to satisfy our wants.

I mastered the stick shift.

My old roommate found out the hard way that the Mazda Miata is kind of a gay car, if a guy drives it. He got many looks from men, rather than women. Poor sucker.

This was my last car with a stick shift. 5 speed tranny with a 106 hp 1.5 liter 4 cylinder.

My last confession, from a Michigander:

I love the South: Weather, food, people (even transplants from Ohio if they renounce their attitude), civil war history, 365 days to motorcycle, country music, my cars don't rust, rednecks (because they can't help it), Three floors of porches are not an oddity, you can show your visiting relatives or friends lots of alligators by going out the back door, NASCAR, learned to say Ya'all in a sentence, guns and ammo knowledge is expected, and never have to push my car out of the snow anymore............btw Reba, would you please refill my sweet tea!

"Northern by birth, Southern by choice".

I confess (and I am horribly embarrassed about this), I do not know how to do a backup of my computer files. I have an external hard-drive and most of my documents are on it, but not everything.

I also am allergic to perfumes. I have one in my drawer from years ago that I just can't bear to part with. It's Avon's Rare Gold. A musk scent that was expensive at the time. This bottle was $45 at the time.

:aw:...Kristina....(Neither do I)....my boys help me a lot when it comes to the computer....Plus, I've got a zillion things running thru my mind daily, so my concentration/patience suffers.

I also had a Ford Falcon, think it was a 1960....Baby Blue, 4 door, automatic. Went to the junk yard after someone ran into the back of it. I remmy the bumper sticker I put on it....it said..."Don't Honk! I'm pedalling as fast as I can"....

I confess I never feel more alone than right now. Wow. Lame.

Ohhh, good one. Me too. Made driving a whole different experience, didn't it?

Yea but it has been over 15 years since I have driven in one so I kinda forgot what it is like.

I really did love the look of those early 60's Falcons.

Babyblue: your secret is safe as long as your mom doesn't access this forum. Okay: mum is the new word.
