WTF? The council voted for the removals after people spoke up. THE DECISION WAS MADE. What do you expect? Those people change their minds? You see, other people who opposed the removals failed to point out their reasons, they lost. If Foxrac was black, he would want them removed naturally. LOL

Not true, I will be part of 30% black that want confederate history to be preserved.

No one is getting better without confederate - it will getting worse if you demand to get everything removed, even your state governor vetoed one of anti-confederate bill.

If liberal judge retires and conservative president appoints conservative judge so gay marriage and abortion can be reverted, also some US Supreme Court ruling were overruled like school segregation used to be constitutional but not anymore.

It could happen anytime if vote turnout is low - big victory for conservatives.
You support gay marriages and conservatives, that's a conflict of interest, don't you think? Are you that weird?

Who told you that I'm conservative?

Hey Reba, do you think that I'm conservative?

I'm moderate voter, not conservative.

Would it surprise you to know that gay people, single or married, can be politically conservative? It's true. There's more to being politically conservative than sex topics.

Are you aware that the confederate is gone? It's the past. Do you know what year it is now?

Heh, heh, I'm not stepping into that one!

You can claim whatever you want. That's up to you.

Either way, no one is required to be 100 percent liberal or conservative. Mixes are acceptable.

Then, there's always libertarian….

What are you trying to say? That a gay politician opposes a gay marriage?

Are you aware that the confederate is gone? It's the past. Do you know what year it is now?

No, the confederate is part of heritage for long time after dissolution in 1865.

We must respect the heritage, not forgotten or destroyed, that's true for our ancestries.

When someone demand to remove the confederate and whip the history off, that's worsen the tension, booming of politically incorrect and more racism.

Also, white southerners are majority in most southern states, exception of Texas and Florida so they could do anything to displease black people in retaliation.

right... and that decision can be reverted back at later time.

I'm not trying to say anything--I made a clear statement.

A gay politician could do that but these days it probably wouldn't be politically expedient.

I stated "gay people"--that could include politicians but not necessarily.

I understand that and I have no problem with it.

Good example: You are a Jew living in Germany and the Nazi monument is still standing, don't you care or do you want it removed?

That's what it's going on in the South so far. There are a lot of black people there. You know that so they speak up. Imagine that you were black and pass the monument daily, wouldn't you get sick of it?

Nazi is far more radical than confederate states and millions of black people didn't died because of policies in confederate state. Nazi is very closer to ISIS today.

I don't care if I was black and I'm not into politically correctness that went too far that anger everyone, also many white friends lost friends with black people because of tension, racism and politically correctness.

OK, do you care about black people feeling uncomfortable about the statues or not? They are the ones wanting them removed. Does that mean they are uneducated about the Civil War?

No, they should have balls to not be offended by heritage, even veterans with PTSD from combat don't bother to remove the military heritage. I suffered PTSD from family abuse and I don't want my family heritage to be wiped off.

Confederate stuffs are heritage nowadays and they should learn to ignore if they don't like it, even people who are anti-war have to ignore war stuffs.

If blacks demand to getting everything removed so they should prepare for worst racial tension, not getting hired, less housing choice, more segregation and less opportunities because they made politically correctness went too far.

History is and should be uncomfortible. Lessons are uncomfortible.
Thats how we tend to learn from our errors, that is how we grow as people as well as nations.

History matters.

To erase it, due to some being uncomfortible is rather short sighted.

The better idea is to leave history as it is.
Leave the monuments to serve their point
Leave the dead alone.

He confedericy played a role in america right or wrong becomming the nation it is.

That needs to be respected and learned from

Oh, retaliation? LOL If that happens, it will make the South look bad definitely. What's more, the Supreme Court will be watching the South's ass. You know that because it's illegal for the South to do so.

Removing the statues is not erasing history. Destroying the statues is erasing history. They are not destroying the statues. They will move them somewhere else as mentioned in the link. Feel better?
