Colorado Teens Fined for Giving Cookies to Neighbor

I hope there isn't a bone in that steak you are holding in your avitar! Things in court get real complicated real fast when you sue yourself!

But seriously, I think the woman thought someone was threatening her. 10:30 at night she goes to the door. Finds no one there. Just a note (read it) and a box of cookies. Unintended consequences. I would have thrown the case out on lack of intent, but what do I know. Judges have done wierder things.
 
I've read about this story before a couple of weeks ago....I think the old lady was heartless because she didn't appreciate what the girls did....I guess the old saying "Kill with kindness" is what this is all about.

If I was a judge, I would've had the case thrown out too, just like Codger.

I saw this woman on TV the other day on one of the national network news shows. They were doing a good job of making her look like an idiot. She was pleading her case about how much it scared her hearing a knock at 10:30pm.
One thing the woman danced around the subject on was the topic of a settlement. My understanding is the girls parents offered to pay the hospital expenses but the woman ignored them and filed the lawsuit trying for punitive damages as well. According to the article, it was in small claims court so I don't know how much she was trying to get (most small claims courts have a limit...ours is at $5000)

When asked the question about the settlement, she said she attempted to contact the parents and all questions were referred to lawyers. She apparently attempted to make contact after the lawsuit was filed.

No, Steve—I meant hooking you up with the woman in Colorado, not Cheri. I sincerely hope that Cheri never has the misfortune of meeting you face to face. I care too much about her to wish an experience that unpleasant upon her. But I think you and Wanita Renea Young could be some serious soul mates. At the very least, you guys could share psychotropic medications with each other. Prozac buddies, if you will.

you say the girls left cookies at 1030 at nite then leave cookies then run off at night thats kind of late to be delevered cookies dont you think.especailty whebn your grandma goes to bed real early dont know anyone at 1030 at nite dont you think thats late to delivered cookies HUH i find the story funny

As the story had said that the girls missed their dance at school to make cookies for their neighbors so usually school dance are in the evenings, so therefore, they made it sometime during the evenings and going to each door to door to drop a basket of cookies off....There is nothing wrong with how late it was...The whole point is the girls did was very kind and thoughtful ...I wouldn't even mind someone doing that to me!...
