No need to contradite yourself here and repeating it. Yes, you need to order extra IP address for 2 VP200. MVP and VP200 would do the same thing with extra IP address. Some have to use extra router or some would only use ONE router. You need to work on the networking to play around with it to see if networking is working fine.
what s kind of modem? If modem have built-in DHCP then just need one router if don't then two routers. Mostly newer modem have built-in DHCP. I believe you play on outdate network.
what s kind of modem?
Last February 2007 was last time.Oh man! There is too many for me to type down. I thought you knew since you worked for Sorenson trainer? When last time you work for Sorenson?
Last February 2007 was last time.
Keep something else in your mind that some users do need extra ports since most routers have 4 ports...
mine needs 6 ports so I need to buy a switch hub and hook up with two routers, my existing one and hovrs 625... why not? It works both ways seamlessly for us.
Comcast costs measly $5 mo for second IP address and buy a switch hub ($25 or so)... that is what I could afford... so it meets my needs while both vp200/mvp work both ways especially no DMZ set up by setting up port fowardings.
Also my wife has her own mvp so it needs two IP addresses to make hers and mine work, too.
And don't forget that CSDVRS z340 (mobile vp) will be distributed soon as well so it might need another port.
It humors me reading some people claiming that one router is enough yet they forget something else here. tsk tsk
Ah. Well everything changed now.
I hate to tell you but you can't said "switch hub" because Switch and Hub are different. Hub is stop make anymore because it have lot packet collisions issue. Just said "switch"
What is the Difference Between a Hub and a Switch? this is very old write but you will get the idea.
I was former Sorenson installer to work for service tech to stop at deaf users s place. Two deaf customers had two VP200 to have one router and cable modem. I told them that they not working in same time on one public ip address and should call cable company to order extra ip address. they worked fine when having two routers, one switch and one modem in different IP addresses. Pay extra IP address.
WOW cable and internet company includes three multiple IP addresses. No pay extra.
Why work multi 21, 25, 80, 110 but only one 1720?? I wish multi 1720
yes you can
how? tell me! I know 1720 will not work fpr multi. I know work for two WAP IP yes but $$$$ $5 to $10 months. I don't need it I want one WAP IP Address
Don't listen to him, it will conflict. Keep at your own risk.
