Maire Philips know well person in this national. If you read about her background, you will understand better.

My older son has been struggle in his sign language because he depend on my voice (my speech was inaccurated). I realized, I should have turn off my voice, his visual ASL will pick up faster when you not use the voice.

I regret for using my voice at my son's earlier ages. They struggle to observation Deaf people's various level sign languages. Maire was correct to advice me before she passed away.

I regret using my voice while signing with my daughter cuz I thought that was the proper thing to do. Now, she is 10 years old and doesnt sign very well. I dont use my voice when signing to her but she struggles with it. With my 2 year old, we keep both languages separate cuz I learned from my mistake.

You know, I find it very wrong indeed that DSS would even think about removing a hearing child of deaf parents simply because they have a speech delay from being in an all signing environment from birth, but when a hearing parent of a deaf child insists on an oral only environment and their child suffers language delays, not just speech delays, DSS would never consider removing that child from the home. In fact, they take the attittude that the hearing parent is doing what they believe to be best for the child. Just because a hearing child of a deaf parent isn't speaking doesn't mean that they haven't acquired language as sign. It is the language delays that cause the problem for children, not the speech delays. Arrggghhh!

I know!!! It is not ok to deprvie hearing children language but it is ok to deprive deaf children language. It DOES not make sense!

DSS is always looking for anyone they think is too weak to
fight back. They tried to come after my children too. But
our family is strong, and I have an AA in psychology, enough
knowledge to know how the system works. They had to
back off big time. But no appology for tarnishing our reputations,
no remorse for the stress they caused my family. They even
accused us of not feeding our children. (I sent them photos of
my 3 babies sitting around a big pile of food in our living room)
We are all hearing. They thought they could go after this law
abiding, Christian homeschooling family and that
we would just roll over and
play dead! They didn't take into account I am a vietnam
veteran and NO one messes with my babies! grrrrr!:rl:

I hear ya. My daughter's doc tried to make it sound like we where bad parents, cause she is under the charts. Told her my son only 10 lbs heavier then her and almost a foot taller, and he is 3 years older. She ended up losing her job and released from she position, not just me, but other families as well.

I think there is too much of an emphasis in training on finding bad parents.
They look for boogy men where there are none, and ignore blatent cases
of real abuse!

By the way I'm a MASH fan too but I like Father Mulkeyhee.
(sp)?

How is your deployment coming?

I agree. Had CPS called on us cause my son was small. Found nothing wrong with him, we where then forced to keep ECI and we didn't have the freedom to do everything we wanted like before.

:topic: Know who you talking about, I like that dude too. Tour in Germany is going ok, just ready to get back to the states.
