Yup, I'm worried about how Conservatives treat GLBT people in Canada and hopefully they won't take marriage away.
However, I see Conservative as less evil than Republican Party.

If she only hold out in the debate on T.V. but the broadcasting company turned her down. No wonder she did not have a chance to express her feeling about her topic and debate with the four men candidates. That is discrimination on their parts including the broadcasting company.
Yep, it look like the Conservation is winning over NDP. To me, it is not good.
The media did nothing.
If you don't know: the Conservatives, Liberals and NDP threatened to walk out if the Green Party showed up at the debates. This is why Farley Mowat started supporting the Green this year because according to him, a truly tolerant and democratic nation would not make such threats.
So it got nothing to do with the media, it has to do with the other three parties.
While I agree that a labor rights party is unlikely to rise in US given the current climate, I wouldn't say it would never happen.Well...
On the one hand, am glad the NDP didn't win majority since I was hoping for a NDP/Liberals coalition, since I don't think Canada is ready to be a democratic socialist country like Finland, Germany et cetera, and a minority government with the moderate Liberals to balance out the playing field would be good for Canada. To be fair, NDP isn't that far left-leaning since they are still somewhat more conservative than the Democrats on the grand scale of thing, the only different is the NDP is a labour rights party; the United States will never see a labour rights party rise to power.
However, the idea of a Tory majority scares me. Not because of human rights, or anything like that. It's more fear of their historical tendency of favouring corporates over small businesses. Oh well, maybe we will see the gun registry repelled and shut down. However I doubt they will toss out the Firearms Act though since the Liberals would reinstate it in the next election if Harper touches it.
Now that I think about it, the NDP is a better Opposition Party than the Liberals are anyway. The Liberals are too moderate to take a solid stand against Harper. The whole set up is kind of like the British two-party system: one stands for labour rights, and the other is a conservative. I can't imagine anything more perfect than that.

Ignatieff, Duceppe step down. I was so happy to see the separatist party get destroyed. It has no place in federal politics.
Same here, the reason why I'm not too thrilled about having a Tory majority is due to their favouritism toward the corporations rather than the small business owners and average taxpayers. As far I am concerned, the middle class and below have not benefited from having a Tory minority government.
Not to mention that we have one of the lowest corporate taxes in the world. Every time they lower the corporate tax, more small businesses go out of business due to the intense competition.
Our Conservative Party is generally seen as being somewhat liberal.
Our Conservative government will NOT ban the gay marriages and rights in any ways and degrees! PM Harper already repeatedly said that he would not do it because of the Supreme Court of Canada ruling that he greatly respects.
Even they will NOT ban or block the women's rights to have abortion because of the Supreme Court of Canada ruling.
They have done great to new Canadians (immigrants) by simplifying the immigration procedure and making the guideline more clear for them to understand and follow.
That is why 65 percent of Chinese Canadians and more or less 54 percent of new Canadians voted for the Conservatives.
At least they have managed our economy well and we are the first G8 and G20 country to get out of recession. If they corporations are taxed, you will see them lay off thousands of employees.
Don't facepalm at me, Stephen Harper tried to do it in 2005-2006 but failed because conservatives aren't majority at earlier and now, they are majority so made me to worry about situation with GLBT rights, especially same-sex marriage that Harper doesn't support but he has no problem with same-sex unions.

I don't know about requirement to change the constitution to override the Canada Supreme Court ruling.

You are wrong again. It would not make any difference because the SCOC will overrule it anyways.
I have followed the Canadian politics very heavily for a long time and that is why I am very familiar with the parties and where they stand on issues.
