2 consenting adults, you mean? Or would we'd rather resort to arranged marriages and marriages done only for the sake of breeding? (See the perspective?)

I'm asking if you think marriage should be between two people because they want to marry each other . . . or marriage should be between two people because the law says they must do it.

But that's what Im saying. It's because of your religious views, not because "Oh its how i grew up." You made your religious views a high priority and decided to apply it to other people's issues. Which is fine with me, actually. It IS your choice after all. Just so you know that you've CHOSEN to think like this, not that you were forced to think like this because that's the environment you grew up in.

If two adults want to marry each other, why do you want to make the government bother with it? Two consenting adults agree to marrying each other. Why does the government need to sneak into the bedroom?

Because civil rights that can only be upheld legally are a part of that union, and they are not implied without legality in the union.
 
Religious beliefs mean absolutely NOTHING when it comes to laws. The court will NEVER take your religious belief into consideration, it wants to know WHY, from a secular and legal point of view, gay marriage should be illegal.

Honestly, I prefer the government butts out, but... right now married couples get an assload of benefits that a same sex couple living together doesn't get. It sounds greedy "I want to have what they have!" I know, but I prefer NO ONE gets benefits for being married!

For thousand years, marriage belongs to a man and woman in case anyone may forget something here. It's also a proper moral way, and I personally want it to stick for the society sake.

What more? Law says NO this time therefore that is their problem and complain them at the Supreme Courts, sorry.

You do know that Im all for gay marriage right? I just wish ideally that there's no marriage, period. Gay or Hetero. Everyones getting divorced nowadays! Religious people can keep their precious marriage ceremonies. But I say down with the legal aspect of marriage for everyone!

Edit: I realized that I sound contradictory. I'm saying either equal marriage for all or none for all!
 
Oh no I'm sad that there are people in California who wanted to take away others' rights. :( Now, I am declaring, that in my residence and within range of sight of my person, for non-official purposes, I am not going to recognize any marriage as long as there are people who do not understand that gay and lesbian people are not sub-human.

I am wondering if this goes to the courts, would they use the 14th Amendment, section 1?

All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the law.

If two adults want to be married, let them. It doesn't matter if both same sex or both opposite sex. If they want it (in the pursuit of liberty), let them.

The best way of dealing with this problem is to let the religious institutions have the word marriage and use the words civil union for governmental functions for everybody. That way everybody can have civil unions and that religious organizations can determine who can get married within their religions. So we'd need a new word for the government function, unioned? :D

You are anti-marriage. I'm saying, "Let marriage be for all." Make a law; create more enforcing of American bedroom politics.

You and I are "on the same side" while I'm from a different idea, it would seem.
